09/04/14 - DE Demarcus Lawrence was placed on reserve/injured-designated for return by the Cowboys Wednesday (Sept. 3). Lawrence will be eligible to return to practice after Week 6 and can play after Week 8.
05/11/14 - The Cowboys paid "a little extra" to move up in the second round and take defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence in a trade with the Washington Redskins. But they believed he was a player they had to have even if it meant they didn't win on the trade chart. The Cowboys gave up the 47th and 78th overall picks to get the 34th pick from the Redskins to get the pass rusher from Boise State. "It's always painful to give up a pick. I mean, you don't like it. I don't like it," vice-president Stephen Jones said. "But you know, you also got to look at reality -- a little bit between not having a ton of cap space for free agency and then, you know, having a limited number of right ends. And, you know, we a little bit felt motivated to go get the guy we liked. "He fit right in. I mean, in terms of where we had him, he fits perfectly. But in terms of having to give up an extra pick, that part is a little tougher. But we felt like it was worth it. Especially a pass rusher."
The Cowboys began working on the trade Thursday night after the first round was complete. Coach Jason Garrett said the Cowboys believed the best pass rushers available were going to go quickly. Jones said it required giving up "a little more than the charts read out." "As we all know, that can happen sometimes when you want some guy, and we really wanted this guy," he said. Jones said the Cowboys and Redskins talked about the trade all day on Friday. "We have a good relationship with the Redskins," he said. "We worked through the day on some things, and it eventually got time to start, and we sweetened the pot a little bit and got the deal done." - The Sports Xchange
05/11/14 - A closer look at the Cowboys' picks: Round 2/34 -- Demarcus Lawrence, DE, 6-3, 251, Boise State...The Cowboys trade their second-and third-round picks to move up 13 spots to get Lawrence. They ranked him as the third best pass rusher in the draft and they had to come away with one after going offensive line in the first round. He can get to the quarterback. - The Sports Xchange
05/08/14 - 2014 DRAFT SCOUT FINAL TOP 100: 32/3. *Demarcus Lawrence, DE, Boise State, 6-3, 251, 4.76, 1-2...Lawrence may have come out a year too early as he tries to cash in on a 2013 season in which he led the Mountain West Conference with 20.5 tackles for a loss and 10.5 sacks. That followed a similar 2012 with 13 TFL and 9.5 sacks, which followed one year in junior college. He has good explosion and closing ability, but is not as fast, strong or refined as scouts prefer. Frankly: Interesting package of goods. College scheme found ways to create mismatches with him, which showed is versatility, but revealed no single trait that would be transcendent in the NFL. He will need to show that the sum of his parts can consistently add up to more than face value. - Frank Cooney, NFLDraftScout.com
05/06/14 - Dane Brugler's 2014 NFL Draft Final Top-50: 24. Demarcus Lawrence DE, Boise State (6-3, 251, 4.80, JR)...An athletic, fierce pass rusher, Lawrence has the get-off burst and smooth acceleration to get past blocks and finish in the backfield. He is still raw in several areas, but pass rushers with his ability are hot commodities on draft weekend. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
