 Draft Scout News
04/15/14 - Five players who should be on the Seattle Seahawks' draft radar: DE Demarcus Lawrence, Boise State: The Seahawks released former starting LEO defensive end Chris Clemons and have Cliff Avril signed for just one more year. Lawrence, who led the Mountain West with 20.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks in 2013, is a gifted pass rusher just scratching the surface of his potential. The 6-foot-3, 251 pounder is earning some first-round buzz and might even be in play for Seattle at No. 32 overall if the Seahawks plan to keep 2012 first round pick Bruce Irvin at linebacker. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
04/15/14 - Five players who should be on the New Orleans' draft radar: DE/OLB Demarcus Lawrence, Boise State: In Rob Ryan's first season as defensive coordinator, the Saints ranked fourth in the NFL last season in sacks. And with Victor Butler returning from injury, pass rusher isn't the top need on New Orleans' wish list on draft weekend, but a talent like Lawrence might be too good to pass up in the first round. The former Boise State rusher has a few character flaws (three separate one-game suspensions the past two seasons), but he has quick, active hands along with the natural athletic pass rush skills to create pressure. Disruptive talents like Lawrence usually don't make it out of the top-32 picks. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
12/30/13 - Boise State DE Lawrence opts for NFL Draft...Defensive end Demarcus Lawrence decided to forgo his senior season at Boise State and enter the 2014 NFL Draft, according to an ESPN report on Friday. Lawrence, who led the Mountain West Conference this season with 20 1/2 tackles for loss, is ranked the 12th-best prospect at his position by NFLDraftScout.com and projected as a third- or fourth-round pick. Lawrence finished the 2013 season with 72 tackles (39 solos), 10 1/2 sacks and three forced fumbles. The Broncos' season ended on Christmas Eve with a 38-23 loss to Oregon State in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. - The Sports Xchange
12/24/13 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: Boise State DE Demarcus Lawrence, a junior, may be playing his final game. He'll need to get some pressure on Mannion to disrupt the Beavers' offense. He leads the team with 10.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss. - The Sports Xchange
12/18/13 - 2013 ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST FIRST TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): DL Demarcus Lawrence, Jr., Boise State,...Lawrence, who was also named first-team all-league in 2012, ranks tied for 10th-nationally with 10.5 sacks, and his 1.0 per game ranks eighth in the country. His 1.8 tackles-for-loss per game is the country's second-best mark, and he had 19.5 total in 2013. His 67 tackles (34 solo) on the season were tied for the second-most by a Bronco in 2013. - Boise State football
