Draft Scout Marcus Maye News
11/12/16 - No. 22 Florida will be without safety Marcus Maye for the rest of the season because of a broken left arm. Maye injured his arm in the first quarter against South Carolina on Saturday and left the field on a cart. Coach Jim McElwain said after the 20-7 victory that Maye "will be done obviously." He's the third Florida player in the last two weeks lost for the year. Linebacker Alex Anzalone (arm) and center Cam Dillard (knee) sustained season-ending injuries in a loss at Arkansas last week. Maye, widely considered a first-round NFL draft pick, turned down a chance to leave early after last season and returned for his senior year. McElwain says "I just feel horrible. But he's done so much. I mean his draft stock looking down the road has risen drastically because of how he's played. So this won't have any bearing on it." - AP Sports
11/12/16 - No. 22 Florida had to shuffle its offensive line again Saturday after losing two more starters in the first half against South Carolina. Center Tyler Jordan, who replaced injured starter Cam Dillard (knee) last week at Arkansas, left the game after Florida's first offensive play with what appeared to be a right ankle injury. Later in the quarter, left tackle David Sharpe was helped off the field with a right leg injury. Those injuries left the Gators down three O-line starters and forced them to rearrange things up front. Freshman T.J. McCoy came off the bench and played center. Martez Ivey slid from left guard to left tackle. And sophomore Kavaris Harkless stepped in at left guard. The Gators also lost starting safety Marcus Maye to a left shoulder injury. Maye's injury compounded injury woes for a defense already playing without its top two tackles, linebackers Jarrad Davis (ankle) and Alex Anzalone (arm). - AP Sports
09/13/13 - Scouting the Florida defense: The good news? Florida's front seven looks strong. The Gators have managed to get consistent push up front in the first two games of the season with 14 tackles for loss and three sacks. The Gators have allowed just 100 yards rushing in two games on 2.3 yards per carry. But UF's secondary had some lapses against Miami. Redshirt freshman SS Marcus Maye blew a coverage deep, which led to a 52-yard TD pass from Miami quarterback Stephen Morris to receiver Phillip Dorsett. - The Sports Xchange
