08/21/17 - DL Leonard Williams of the Jets will not face discipline from the NFL for an incident that occurred at a music festival in June. Video appeared to show Jets linebacker Darron Lee getting into an argument with his girlfriend before he was restrained and forcibly removed by Williams, a 6-5, 300-pound defensive lineman. No arrests were made in the incident, which occurred at Governors Ball Music Festival in New York on June 3. Williams was the sixth overall pick in the 2015 draft and the former USC standout totaled 68 tackles and seven sacks last season.
12/19/16 - DE Leonard Williams (chest) was injured during Saturday night's 34-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Head coach Todd Bowles said Sunday that tests on Williams came back negative. It is too soon to know if Williams will be available for Saturday's game against the New England Patriots.
09/01/15 - DE Leonard Williams (knee) dodged serious injury Saturday night, when he left the preseason game against the Giants in the second quarter. An MRI administered Sunday revealed only a muscle strain for Williams, who should be ready for the season opener on Sept. 13. Williams will start for however long suspended DE Sheldon Richardson is sidelined. Richardson will miss at least the first four games of the season following repeated failed marijuana arrests and could be subjected to further NFL sanctions following a July arrest for resisting arrest following a high-speed car chase in Missouri.
08/30/15 - DE Leonard Williams got good news on the knee he injured in the Jets' game against the Giants Saturday (Aug. 29). An MRI exam showed no ligament damage in Williams' knee, and the injury is being called a muscle strain behind his knee.
The Jets do not expect it to be a long-term injury. It is unclear whether Williams will be available for the regular-season opener in two weeks.
The Jets are counting on Williams to be a starter at defensive end, especially with Sheldon Richardson suspended for at least the first four games of the season. Williams was a starter in all three preseason games.
Williams, the sixth overall selection in this year's draft, suffered the injury in the second quarter of the 28-18 victory over the Giants and did not return to the game.
