Draft Scout Jonathan Allen News
12/18/17 - DE Jonathan Allen's season is almost certainly over. He remains on injured reserve, but is eligible to come off at any time from his Lisfranc sprain.
Allen said earlier this month he'd like to play again before the season ends. But with two games left to go, the Redskins are being cautious with their 2017 first-round pick.
12/13/17 - DE Jonathan Allen, Washington's first-round draft pick in 2017, was eligible to return to the practice field on Wednesday after spending eight weeks on injured reserve (Lisfranc sprain). He did not, however. The Redskins' medical staff isn't comfortable yet letting Allen test his foot at full speed.
10/19/17 - DE Jonathan Allen was placed on injured reserve Thursday, one day after he underwent Lisfranc foot surgery. Allen is expected to miss about eight weeks but the Redskins aren't ruling him out for the season. Teams can return two players off injured reserve during the season, which leaves the door open for a potential return by Allen. The first-round pick (17th overall) out of Alabama started each of Washington's first five games and has 10 tackles and one sack.
10/16/17 - DL Jonathan Allen (foot sprain) will undergo an MRI on Monday.
03/09/17 - Alabama Pro day: Defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson and wide receiver ArDarius Stewart did a little more, posting 22 and 10 repetitions in the bench press, respectively. Each is projected as a possible third-round selection by NFLDraftScout.com. While few expected any of Alabama's top prospects to compete again after such a short layoff since the Combine, it was thought that Allen, in particular, might want a second chance after a somewhat disappointing performance in Indianapolis, including a 5.0 time in the 40-yard dash after measuring just under 6-foot-3 and 286 pounds. Allen did not appear as quick or flexible as Tomlinson (6-3, 310) during arc drills that were part of Wednesday's workout, though the reigning Bednarik and Nagurski Award winner's production (69 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks) speaks for itself. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
