 Draft Scout J.T. Barrett News
12/01/17 - Ohio State senior quarterback J.T. Barrett is a game-day decision for Saturday's Big Ten title game between the eighth-ranked Buckeyes and No. 4 Wisconsin less than one week after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery, Barrett, who had the procedure done last Sunday after aggravating a right knee inury when he was hit on the sidelines in last Saturday's game against rival Michigan, has been undergoing 15 hours of treatment per day in hopes of returning to the field Saturday. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said Barrett's week of treatment has been "very positive," but added that the quarterback's health situation is still "very delicate."
11/30/17 - Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this week but is expected to play in Saturday's Big Ten title game against Wisconsin, the Columbus Dispatch reported. Barrett underwent the surgery on Sunday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. He has experienced issues with the knee all season and the situation became worse when it was injured before and during last Saturday's 31-20 victory over Michigan. Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer hasn't publicly mentioned that Barrett underwent surgery but said in a Thursday radio appearance that Barrett has been cleared to play against the undefeated Badgers.

"He's going to play in the game," Meyer said. Barrett's knee issue worsened prior to the game at Michigan when he was warming up behind the bench area and was bumped into by someone carrying a camera. Barrett's knee twisted and he fell to the turf. He was treated by medical personnel and cleared to play in the contest. But late in the third quarter, the knee again twisted while he was being tackled and Barrett departed the contest. Meyer was irate after the game and called for an "all-out investigation" of the pregame incident. The Dispatch reported Ohio State opted for the Sunday surgery because it felt repairing the torn meniscus immediately was a better option than having Barrett play Saturday and risk further injury. Redshirt freshman Dwayne Haskins, who replaced Barrett in the Michigan game, is also being prepared to play in case Barrett has a setback. Barrett has passed for 2,728 yards and 33 touchdowns against seven interceptions this season. He also has rushed for 672 yards and nine scores. - The Sports Xchange

11/30/17 - 2017 BIG TEN GRIESE-BREES QUARTERBACK OF THE YEAR (COACHES/MEDIA): J.T. Barrett, Ohio State... J.T. Barrett is the Big Ten Conference's Griese-Brees Quarterback of the Year for a third time. The three-time team captain was also named the league's first-team quarterback for a third time on Wednesday. A finalist for the Davey O'Brien Quarterback of the Year award as well as the Senior CLASS Award, Barrett has the Buckeyes balanced offense positioned nationally at No. 4 in total offense, No. 5 in scoring and No. 13 rushing. The team is No. 1 in the Big Ten in all those categories and No. 2 in passing. Individually, Barrett is third nationally in points responsible for with 254, fifth in touchdown passes (33), seventh in passing efficiency (166.95) and 10th in completion percentage at 66.2. His stats are remarkably similar - and mostly better or soon to be - than each of the two previous years - 2014 and 2016 - when he was named the Big Ten's top quarterback. - Ohio State Football
11/27/17 - Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett, who left Saturday's game in the third quarter with a knee injury, is probable to play in the Big Ten Championship Game, coach Urban Meyer said Monday. The Buckeyes (10-2) play Wisconsin (12-0) on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET in Indianapolis. Barrett said he was hit on the right knee, perhaps by a photographer, while on a crowded sideline before Saturday's game at Michigan. That aggravated a meniscus injury that he has been playing through, but the knee locked up in the second half and he was unable to continue. "He's doing a nice job with all the rehab," Meyer said. Redshirt freshman Dwayne Haskins came in and led three scoring drives in the 31-20 victory over the Wolverines. Haskins completed 6 of 7 passes for 94 yards, also rushing for 24 yards. As for Barrett's potential mobility on Saturday, Meyer said, "It's too early to tell. That's what this week's for. But those are all things we've taken into consideration." Barrett, a senior, has completed 217 of 328 passes for 2,728 yards, with 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. He has rushed for 672 yards and nine scores. Barrett has 102 career passing touchdowns and 40 rushing touchdowns. - The Sports Xchange
11/25/17 - Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett suffered an apparent right knee injury during the third quarter of his team's game against archrival Michigan on Saturday. Barrett was tackled by Wolverines linebacker Mike McCray with 6:07 left in the quarter and his team trailing 20-14. Barrett limped off the field with assistance and headed straight to the visitors' locker room. Barrett fractured his right ankle against Michigan as a freshman. He ran for a touchdown and passed for another in the first half. He was replaced by freshman Dwayne Haskins. - The Sports Xchange
