01/17/17 - DE Joey Bosa was selected as the Defensive Rookie of the Year in a vote by the Professional Football Writers of America on Tuesday. Bosa, the third overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft, led all NFL rookies with 10.5 sacks in only 12 games. He posted two sacks in his NFL debut in Week 5 at Oakland on Oct. 9. Bosa's former Ohio State teamate, RB Ezekiel Elliott, was named the Rookie of the Year and Offensive Rookie of the Year.
01/02/17 - DE Joey Bosa was the first rookie to lead the Chargers in sacks since Shawne Merriman in 2004. Bosa finished with 10.5 sacks, despite missing the first month with a hamstring injury. That injury came after Bosa and the team couldn't reach an agreement on a contract until late summer. John Spanos, the director of football operations, said "there was nothing we could have done while protecting the team contractually."

12/12/16 - DE Joey Bosa left Sunday's game against the Panthers in the second quarter with a neck injury. He is day-to-day.
12/11/16 - DE Joey Bosa exited with a neck injury and possible concussion in the second quarter Sunday.
San Diego's defense took a hit when Bosa left. The draftee out of Ohio State was injured as he sacked Panthers QB Cam Newton with 6:29 remaining in the second quarter. It was Bosa's only sack of the game and his sixth sack across a nine-game period.
Bosa, 21, missed the first four games after he was a preseason holdout.
