 Draft Scout *Jared Goff News
09/18/17 - QB Jared Goff was not as good as he was last week, when he completed 21 of 29 passes for 306 yards and a touchdown. Against Washington, Goff was 15 for 25 for 224 yards and a touchdown with one interception. Coach Sean McVay said Goff "did a nice job for the most part" and credited Goff for making quick and correct decisions. "He created some off-schedule plays," McVay said. "It's unfortunate the way the game ended where their defense made a nice play and we turned the football over."
09/11/17 - QB Jared Goff, who went 0-7 last year after being the draft's No. 1 pick in 2016, threw for a touchdown and a career-high 306 yards by completing 21 of 29 passes in Sunday's win over the Colts. New head coach Sean McVay wasn't shocked by Goff's performance that produced a career-high 117.9 passer rating. "I'm not surprised he played that way," McVay said. "I thought he did a great job and put himself in a position to make good decisions and anticipate some throws. He seemed to have a good command of it. I'm very proud of him."
06/05/17 - QB Jared Goff looks like a different player from this time a year ago. And while Sean McVay is new to working with Goff -- and OTAs are far different from training camp and the regular season -- the Rams' new head coach is impressed. "It's hard until you actually work with a guy. You evaluate the traits and the characteristics, but I think what he's done above the neck in terms of the way that he's handled the different things and situations that we've put him in, (we've) been very pleased so far," McVay said. "We know that game-like atmosphere, you try to create that so that you can mimic and emulate those situations in practice. But until you're actually live as a quarterback, that's when you truly get challenged. You're having to move with the rush, avoid guys that can really tackle you. That's always the best evaluator. I think he has done a nice job improving every single day and that's what's going to give us a chance."
05/22/17 - QB Jared Goff is adjusting to a new system in his second year, with first-year head coach Sean McVay completely overhauling the offense left behind by former coach Jeff Fisher. "It's way different. It's a way different offense," Goff said, "personally, from my brief experience with it. I've had a quicker time learning it, easier time learning it. "I don't know whether that's scheme or the way it's taught or whatnot, but I've enjoyed spending time with the coaches and picking it up pretty quickly." As first days go, Goff was pleased with the work the Rams put in. "It felt good. It was similar to the first day of minicamp, I think," he said. "Everyone has got some nerves, some excitement, a little bit of everything. Went out there and thought the practice went by a lot faster than you would expect. It was fun. It was a good day. Obviously, a lot of stuff to work on, still early on in the spring here. But I feel good."
12/21/16 - QB Jared Goff was a full participant in practice Wednesday after suffering a concussion. His status for Saturday is uncertain.
