Draft Scout News
09/01/17 - DE Charles Harris, the rookie first-round pick from Missouri, didn't impress in the preseason finale, ending the finale against Minnesota with no tackles, no QB hits and no pressures.
Granted, Harris, a pass rushing specialist, only played the first quarter vs. the Vikings. But he still struggles against the run and hasn't yet learned how to consistently use his quick first step to get to the QB.
08/22/17 - DE Charles Harris, the first-round pick from Missouri, has displayed the quick first step that he's known for throughout training camp and two preseason games. Harris, who has largely played against backups in games against Atlanta and Baltimore, could get more time against starting-caliber players this week against Philadelphia.
For what it's worth, Harris has almost played Miami LT Laremy Tunsil to a standoff in 11-on-11 and 1-on-1 matchups. Tunsil, last year's first-round pick, probably has a slight edge, however.
08/12/17 - DE Charles Harris, the first-round pick from Missouri, had moderate success in the preseason opener against Atlanta. Harris was used mostly in pass-rush situations and applied some pressure but didn't get a sack. He also seemed acceptable against the run. It's unclear how much he might play or be used Thursday against Baltimore.
08/01/17 - DE Charles Harris, the first-round pick from Missouri, has been thriving in pass-rushing situations, as expected, but he's also showed some promise against the run, which wasn't necessarily expected. Harris, known for this first step, has had respectable success against starting LT Laremy Tunsil and has done very well against backup LT Sam Young. Harris is still being used mostly in pass-rushing situations with the first team but he's been used in running situations with the second team.
07/27/17 - DE Charles Harris, the first-round pick from Missouri, had a decent day, according to head coach Adam Gase, but Harris didn't terrorize quarterbacks the way he did during OTAs and minicamp. Gase said they threw new looks at Harris. "Every time he gets a look he hasn't seen before or something he hasn't seen in college it's good for him," Gase said.
