 Draft Scout Xavier Woods News
10/04/17 - S Xavier Woods has impressed every time he has been on the field. The rookie is demanding more playing time and will get it. He spotted starters Byron Jones and Jeff Heath a series each against the Rams in addition to sub packages. Look for him to soak up of more of Heath's snaps in the regular defense.
08/28/17 - CBs Chidobe Awuzie, Xavier Woods and Jourdan Lewis all continue to deal with hamstring injuries. Head coach Jason Garrett said Awuzie and Woods will have a chance to play Thursday, while Lewis is a long shot.

10/23/16 - Carlos Henderson's 92-yard kickoff return and a big interception by Xavier Woods helped Louisiana Tech blunt Florida International comebacks and take a 44-24 victory Saturday night. After FIU's Alex McGough hit Thomas Owens for a 6-yard pass to get within 37-24 with 6:14 left, Henderson took the ensuing kickoff the distance. After FIU got within 10 in the third quarter, Woods' 45-yard return to the FIU 2 set up a score. The Bulldogs (5-3, 3-1) were led by Higgins' 22-of-30 night, 269 yards, two passing TDs and one rushing. Trent Taylor made 11 receptions for 156 yards and a score and went over 1,000 yards receiving for the second straight season. While the Bulldogs won their fourth straight, the loss was the first for the Panthers (3-6, 3-2) under interim coach Ron Cooper after three victories. McGough was 25 of 44 for 281 yards and three TDs with an interception. - AP Sports
10/01/16 - SEPT 6 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Louisiana Tech senior S Xavier Woods tied his career high with 10 tackles in the Bulldogs’ season opener at Arkansas Saturday, while the senior safety also came up with his 10th career interception to stall the Razorbacks first offensive drive of the game. The West Monroe, Louisiana native is now tied for eighth in program history in career INT’s, becoming only the 11th Bulldog to ever have double-digit interceptions in their career. Woods led a LA Tech defensive unit that held the Razorbacks to 297 yards of total offense (-4 yards alone in the third quarter). Only Alabama was able to hold Arkansas to under 300 total yards last season. He also registered one sack for a loss of six yards in the game. Woods’ interception was one of two by the Bulldog defense on the afternoon, which marks the first time an opponent had picked off Arkansas more than once in a single game since Oct. 18, 2014. - Conference USA Football
