Draft Scout Kevin Kolb News
08/31/13 - The Buffalo Bills released quarterback Matt Leinart on Friday, and the team reportedly will place injured quarterback Kevin Kolb on injured reserve, ending the possibility that he will play for the Bills this season.
08/31/13 - QB Kevin Kolb (head) was placed on reserve/injured by the Bills Friday.
08/27/13 - QB Kevin Kolb will be out indefinitely with a severe concussion and he also faces the possibility of going on injured reserve. The Bills will follow the NFL's concussion protocol, but given this is Kolb's third concussion, he will be scrutinized even closer. Coach Doug Marrone said he hasn't been told that Kolb's injury is career-threatening as some reports made out.
"Well obviously he has a concussion and there's a protocol, even myself, I had to go online and look at what that is," coach Doug Marrone said. "He's in that and I think the alarming thing to me was obviously when the report was made about him not ever playing (again). I had a conversation with Kevin this morning and he's not even close to the process of that type of decision or making it. Now, I do think that with the concussion he'll be out for some time. He's told me that he has not even discussed or thought about stopping playing or anything like that. He's not even in that thought process right now. Right now he's in the thought process of really clearing up and going through the process of clearing up the concussion."
08/12/13 - QB Kevin Kolb made the trip to Indianapolis but did not play. The veteran missed more than a week of training camp with a knee injury and death in the family. With a week to prepare, Kolb is expected to play, and perhaps start, Friday's home game against Minnesota.
"I said to myself, ‘We want to get him in there, but we have to be fair and play it safely,'" coach Doug Marrone said. "When he came back (last Friday) and he worked out, I said, ‘It's very difficult for me to put you in that situation.' He didn't have a lot of practices."
Kolb was able to guide rookie's EJ Manuel and Jeff Tuel against the Colts and take his share of "mental reps."
04/08/13 - Even though the Buffalo Bills have missed the postseason 13 consecutive years, new quarterback Kevin Kolb said his goal is to win.
The Bills announced Monday that Kolb officially signed a free agent contract with the team.
The two sides agreed to the deal on Saturday. It is a two-year contract worth up to $13 million, according to multiple reports.
The Bills' drought is the longest in the NFL. They are coming off a 6-10 season, their eighth straight losing record.
"I'm here to win the Super Bowl. Period," Kolb said Monday at a press conference introducing him.
Kolb's main competition for the starting job is Tavaris Jackson. Kolb's record as a starter is 9-12.
"We wanted to add some veteran experience to the quarterback position on our roster and we think we've added a good one by signing Kevin," general manager Buddy Nix said in a statement. "He's a player we had targeted since he became a free agent and he should be a strong candidate in the competition for the starting quarterback position."
Kolb spent the past two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, where he threw for 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions after being acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles. He was sacked a combined 57 times in those two seasons.
"There's very limited opportunities in this league," Kolb said. "I've been lucky enough to have a few of them; hopefully I have another one here. I plan on taking 100 percent care of that and making sure I do my part to play at the highest level."
