Draft Scout Sean White News
09/18/17 - Auburn backup QB White dismissed following arrest...Auburn backup quarterback Sean White was dismissed from the team following his arrest for public intoxication, coach Gus Malzahn announced Monday. "Sean White is no longer a part of our football program at Auburn," Malzahn said in a statement. "He has made poor decisions that are not in the best interest of our program, and more importantly, himself. We appreciate his time at Auburn and wish him nothing but the best." The 21-year old White, who had just served a two-game suspension for undisclosed reasons, was arrested by Auburn police at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, according to Auburn police. Jail records show that White was taken to the Lee County Detention Center at 3:28 a.m. Sunday. He was jailed on $500 bond. White, a redshirt junior, started 16 games between 2015 and 2016 but lost the preseason competition for the job to transfer Jarrett Stidham. White was limited in the spring while recovering from a broken right forearm suffered in the Sugar Bowl. - The Sports Xchange
09/17/17 - Auburn backup quarterback Sean White has been arrested on a charge of public intoxication. Jail records show that the 21-year-old White was taken to the Lee County Detention Center at 3:28 a.m. Sunday. He was jailed on $500 bond. Auburn spokesman Kirk Sampson says coach Gus Malzahn is aware of the situation and still gathering all the facts. White had been suspended for undisclosed reasons for the first two games. He started 16 games the past two seasons but lost the preseason competition for the job to transfer Jarrett Stidham. 10/08/16 - Kamryn Pettway ran for 169 yards and three touchdowns, Sean White threw for 204 yards and a touchdown and Auburn cruised to a 38-14 win over Mississippi State on Saturday. The 6-foot, 240-pound Pettway was dominant for the Tigers, running around and through Mississippi State's defense as Auburn built a 35-0 halftime lead. The sophomore thrived even with a huge workload, carrying the ball 27 times for 125 yards and three touchdowns in the first half. He finished with 39 carries. White had a great view of Pettway's career day, turning to hand the ball to him all afternoon. Understandably, he was impressed. "He's a beast of a running back," White said. "He's just a tough runner. He'll get the tough yards. It might not always be pretty, but he's a really good asset for us to have." Pettway's role was increased after starting running back Kerryon Johnson suffered a right ankle injury in the first quarter and didn't return. 09/13/16 - Auburn coach Gus Malzahn's puzzling quarterback rotation against Clemson didn't work out at all like he had hoped. The offense sputtered and gave away chance after chance to topple one of the best teams in the nation. For the Tigers' second game against Arkansas State, that plan was scrapped. Malzahn gave Sean White the reins, and White - along with the rest of the Auburn offense - took advantage. He threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns on 17-of-23 passing, and the Tigers picked up 462 yards on the ground en route to a 51-14 demolition of Arkansas State on Saturday night. The 706 total yards Auburn gained is the second-highest in school history, behind only the 712 the Tigers racked up against Western Carolina in 2013. "We came out and we looked like an Auburn offense for the first time," Malzahn said. "Just looking at it, without looking at the film, I can tell they definitely improved." Kerryon Johnson and Kamryn Pettway each tallied over 100 yards on the ground, the first time two Auburn players have eclipsed the century mark in a game since 2014. Johnson added a pair of touchdowns, the first of which was a dazzling, cross-field, electrifying run that included a hurdle over an Arkansas State defender and a dive across the pylon. - AP Sports
09/07/16 - Auburn QB White to start vs. Arkansas State...Auburn elected to begin the season with a three-quarterback system. After a season-opening defeat against Clemson, the rotation has been reduced to one. Sophomore Sean White was named the starting quarterback on Tuesday as the Tigers prepare for Saturday's contest against Arkansas State. White split the duties with junior John Franklin III and senior Jeremy Johnson during Saturday's 19-13 loss to the Tigers. The offense never found a flow with any of the three. "We weren't as successful as we thought we'd be," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said at a press conference. "The change in and out, it hurt our tempo."
The Tigers had just 262 total yards against Clemson. White, who started, completed 10-of-21 passes for 140 yards and one interception, Franklin completed his only pass for minus-3 yards and Johnson was 4-of-6 passing for 38 yards, one interception and one fumble. Auburn also reinstated safety Stephen Roberts, who was suspended for the Clemson game due to last month's arrest on misdemeanor charges for possession of an unlicensed handgun and attempting to elude an officer. - The Sports Xchange
