Draft Scout *Michael Bush News
12/05/14 - RB Michael Bush was placed on waivers by the Cardinals Friday (Dec. 5).
11/26/14 - Cardinals coach Bruce Arians doesn't expect the signing of veteran running back Michael Bush to immediately improve the team's weak ground game.
But at 245 pounds, Bush gives the Cardinals a big, proven runner who might be able to help in a few weeks.
"The problem is we don't have many padded practices left, so it will be very hard to get him up to speed as fast as we want to," Arians said. "We didn't sign him for this week. We signed him for the long haul, so we'll have him ready when we need him. We'll go from there."
A seven-year veteran, Bush was released by the Chicago Bears in March and hasn't been with a team since.
It's curious that the Cardinals waited this long to sign Bush. They've had a need for a bigger back for nearly two months now, and Bush was available that whole time.
"We've talked about him for three weeks now, maybe," Arians said. "We have the opportunity to get it done, get him ready. Whether it's a major addition or just a minor one, we'll wait and see."
11/25/14 - RB Michael Bush was signed by the Cardinals Tuesday (Nov. 25).
03/10/14 - RB Michael Bush's two-year stay in Chicago ended Monday when the Bears terminated the running back's contract. His release saves the Bears $2.85 million against the salary cap.
Bush, 29, started just one of the 28 games he played with the Bears. Last season, he compiled 63 carries for 197 yards and three touchdowns. He also had four receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown.
He played a larger role in 2012, running 114 times for 411 yards and five touchdowns. That year, Bush caught nine passes for 83 yards.
11/25/13 - --RB Michael Bush is averaging 1.4 yards per carry over his last five games (33 yards) and 1.6 for the season. He has gained no yards on 11 carries the past three games as the short-yardage running attack has suffered. Still Trestman defended Bush.
"It depends how you look at it," he said. "Michael Bush was pretty effective a few weeks ago in Green Bay. He's been pretty effective running the football in four-minute for us throughout the season and won some games with his physicality and I think that started before Green Bay. Green Bay's one of them"
"I don't know where this (criticism) is all coming from overall. I think pointing a finger at Michael ... it's not just Michael ... (it) would be just like talking about (linebacker) Jonathan Bostic right now. It's everybody working together. There's a lot more involved. There's blocking, there's angles, there's double teams."
