Draft Scout Deebo Samuel News
11/07/17 - South Carolina junior receiver Deebo Samuel announced he will return for his senior year. Samuel had six touchdowns before suffering a broken leg in the third game of the season. Samuel had been aiming for a late-season comeback but recently suffered a high ankle sprain during the recovery process. "GAMECOCKS COUNTRY we got one more ride and it's going to be one to remember," Samuel posted on Twitter on Sunday night. "I love you all." Samuel is one of the top all-purpose threats in the country. He returned kickoffs for touchdowns in each of the first two games, caught 15 passes for 250 yards and three scores, and added another touchdown on a 25-yard run. He is rated the No. 8 wide receiver in the 2019 draft class by NFLDraftScout.com. Samuel caught 59 passes for 783 yards and one touchdown last season, when he rushed for six TDs on 15 carries, returned a kick for a score and threw a 33-yard touchdown pass. - The Sports Xchange
11/07/17 - South Carolina junior WR Deebo Samuel (5-11, 208, 4.50, #1) announced this week that he plans to return to Columbia for his final season of eligibility next season. He had 15 receptions for 250 yards and three touchdowns in the first three games before a fractured fibula ended his season prematurely. Samuel was attempting to return this season, but a sprained foot during rehab shelved those talks. But the good news for Gamecocks fans is he will return next year and the 2018 NFL Draft loses a potential top-flight receiver. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
10/03/17 - WR Deebo Samuel has had the cast removed from his ankle and is "doing well" in his rehab, coach Will Muschamp said.
09/21/17 - One of the best playmakers in the SEC, South Carolina redshirt junior WR Deebo Samuel (5-11, 208, 4.50, #1) was off to a great start to the season with six total touchdowns -- three receiving, two returns and one rushing. Unfortunately, his 2017 season is apparently over after breaking his left leg in the third quarter Saturday night against Kentucky. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
09/18/17 - South Carolina WR Samuel sidelined with leg injury...South Carolina will be without its best offensive playmaker, junior receiver Deebo Samuel, for an "extended period of time," coach Will Muschamp said on a conference call Monday morning. Samuel suffered a lower-leg fracture in Saturday's home loss to Kentucky as his left leg got caught underneath him while being tackled. Muschamp said after the game that Samuel's injury would be season-ending, but Samuel tweeted that night that he would miss only five to six weeks and the coach is now leaving the door open for a potential return. Samuel is an all-purpose player for the Gamecocks offense, with 15 catches for 250 yards and three touchdowns, as well as two rushes for 30 yards and a score. He has scored on two kick returns this season, giving him six of South Carolina's 11 touchdowns. South Carolina (2-1) plays host to Louisiana Tech this Saturday. - The Sports Xchange
