12/29/17 - Matt Coburn scored on a 1-yard run with 2:18 remaining as Wake Forest won a wild Belk Bowl, recovering after surrendering a 17-point lead to defeat Texas A&M 55-52 on Friday afternoon at Bank of America Stadium. Texas A&M (7-6) reached its own 49-yard line on its last drive before turning the ball over on downs with 28 seconds left. John Wolford threw four first-half touchdown passes, helping the Demon Deacons (8-5) win bowl games in back-to-back seasons. Jhamon Ausbon caught a 13-yard pass from Nick Starkel with 5:52 left to put Texas A&M ahead. That drive covered 72 yards on 10 plays. Backup running back Cade Carney scored on a 1-yard, fourth-down run to send Wake Forest into the lead with 9:06 to play.

Texas A&M quarterback Nick Starkel threw for 499 yards and four touchdowns, completing 42 of 63 passes. Wake Forest made a goal-line stand early in the fourth quarter, with Daniel LaCamera's 19-yard field goal extending the Aggies' lead to 45-41. The Demon Deacons turned around their early troubles on special teams with Jessie Bates III returning a punt 59 yards for a second-quarter touchdown. There was a record, too, with Wake Forest's Cam Serigne making a 37-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. That was his 21st career touchdown reception, setting an Atlantic Coast Conference record for a tight end. - AP College Football

Wolford leads the ACC in passing efficiency with a 157.5 rating and tied for the league lead with 25 touchdown passes. 11/13/17 - NOV 13 ACC OFFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK: John Wolford, Wake Forest, Sr., QB, 6-1, 200, Jacksonville, Fla.,...In earning his second ACC weekly accolade of the season, Wolford totaled a career-high 499 yards of total offense in leading Wake Forest to a 64-43 win at Syracuse on Saturday. Wolford completed 25 of 38 passes for 363 yards and three touchdowns while posting an efficiency rating of 172.1. Wolford rushed 19 times for a career-high 136 yards and three touchdowns, scoring on runs of three, nine and 29 yards. He accounted for six total touchdowns, tying the school record he matched on Oct. 28 against Louisville. During Wake Forest's second-half comeback (the Deacons trailed 38-24 at the half and 43-40 entering the fourth quarter), Wolford completed 12 of 18 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 10 times for 91 yards and a pair of scores. - ACC Football
11/11/17 - Quarterback John Wolford tossed three touchdowns and ran for three more as Wake Forest defeated Syracuse 64-43 on Saturday in a wild Atlantic Coast Conference game at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. Wolford completed 25 of 38 pass attempts for 363 yards and rushed 19 times for 136 yards as the Demon Deacons gained 734 total yards. Wide receiver Tabari Hines had nine receptions for 124 yards, tight end Cam Serigne caught three touchdown passes and tailback Matt Colburn ran for 237 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries, including a 76-yarder in the closing minutes.

Zack Mahoney started for Syracuse in place of injured quarterback Eric Dungey and completed 33 of 60 passes for 384 yards, with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Wide receiver Steve Ishmael had 14 receptions for 145 yards and one score for the Orange, who gained 621 total yards. Trailing 41-27 early in the third quarter, Wake Forest (6-4, 3-3 ACC) outscored the Orange 27-2 over the next 15 minutes to build a 54-43 lead. Wolford's 9-yard touchdown run ignited the comeback, and the Demon Deacons pulled within 41-40 on Wolford's 17-yard touchdown pass to Serigne. Kicker Mike Weaver's extra point was blocked by Syracuse's Kayton Samuels, and Scoop Bradshaw picked up the ball and raced to the end zone for a two-point conversion that gave the Orange (4-6, 2-4) a 43-40 advantage. - The Sports Xchange

10/30/17 - OCT 30 ACC OFFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK: John Wolford, Wake Forest, Sr., QB, 6-1, 200, Jacksonville, Fla.,...Wolford tied the Wake Forest school record by throwing for five touchdowns and set a school record by being responsible for six scores in the Demon Deacons' 42-32 win over Louisville. Wolford completed 28 of 34 passes for 461 yards and five touchdowns. His scores came on passes of 32, 4, 25, 52 and 44 yards. He also had a 1-yard touchdown run. Wolford was 19 of-23 for 258 yards and three touchdowns in the first half. In the second half, he completed nine of 11 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns. - ACC Football
