 Draft Scout Kory Sperry News
11/16/09 - TE Kory Sperry, the rookie who was activated off the practice squad Saturday to take Anthony Fasano's place, enjoyed a rousing debut. He had three catches for 31 yards, including his first career touchdown. Sperry was euphoric afterward. "The way I approached it is you never know what tomorrow is going to hold. You can get hurt, you can get released. It's just a business," he told the Palm Beach Post. "This is what I always dreamed of. I never expected to be here. And when they gave me the chance, I didn't want to let it go."
11/15/09 - TE Kory Sperry was signed to Miami's active roster from the practice squad.
03/11/09 - Colorado State Pro day: Seven NFL teams came to watch 10 prospects workout indoors on FieldTurf. Sperry, who posted outstanding times at last month's NFL combine, several of which were the best performances among invited tight ends, chose not to participate in any of the tests Tuesday. He did catch passes from Farris, and ran routes, at the end of the day. Representatives from the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos, as well as longtime scout Kent McCloughan from the Oakland Raiders, were in attendance. The tight end measured 6-foot-4 5/8, 244 pounds and stood on his numbers from the combine. He worked out in position drills and really looked good. - Colorado State football/Gil Brandt, NFL.com
02/23/09 - Former CSU tight end Kory Sperry posted impressive numbers this weekend at the NFL draft combine in Indianapolis, raising speculation that the native of Vineland might be drafted in April and not have to sign on as a free agent. His times and distances in the various drills from Saturday: 11.57 seconds in the 60-yard shuttle, first among all tight ends tested; 4.24 in the 20-yard shuttle, also first; 7.00 in the three-cone drill, fifth; 4.77 in the 40-yard dash, eighth; 10 feet, 2 inches in the broad jump, second; 33.5 inches in the vertical jump, fourth. The NFL invited 21 tight ends in all to the combine. Sperry caught 38 passes for 492 yards and six touchdowns in 2008 for the Rams, his first action back after his 2007 season ended prematurely when he tore an anterior cruciate ligament in a game against California at Hughes Stadium. - Jeff Browne, Colorado State Rams Examiner
02/23/09 - Former CSU standout Kory Sperry, rated by most as a seventh-round selection in the 2009 NFL Draft, may have improved his stock Saturday with an outstanding overall performance on his final day at the NFL combine at Lucas Oil Stadium. The 6-foot, 235-pound prospect out of Vineland ranked first among tight ends in the 60-yard shuttle (11.57 seconds) and the 20-yard shuttle (4.24). He also tied for second in the broad jump at 10 feet, 2 inches, and tied for fourth in the vertical jump (33.5 inches). National Football Scouting, who runs the combine, invited 21 of the nation's top draft-eligible tight ends to the NFL's annual pre-draft event. Sperry also tied for fifth in the three-cone drill (7.00 seconds), and finished eighth in the 40-yard dash (4.77), although his first time in that event was 4.69. - The Coloradoan
