"I am glad to be back with the Chargers organization," said Dunlap. "I can't say thank you enough to (owner) Dean Spanos, as well as (general manager) Tom Telesco, Coach (Mike) McCoy and Coach Joe D (D'Alessandris) for helping this day to arrive. It's an honor and a blessing and I'm ready to get back to work."
The 6-9, 330-pound Dunlap was the team's Lineman of the Year in 2014 after starting all 16 games for the first time in his career. Dunlap was a stabilizing force along an offensive line that battled numerous injuries, including at center where the team started an NFL record five different players. With Dunlap protecting his blind side, quarterback Philip Rivers completed a team-record 379 passes while throwing for 4,386 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2014.
"King has been top notch the last few years for us at left tackle," said Rivers. "It's very well-deserved for him personally and a huge signing for our team."
