 Draft Scout Drew Brees News
11/25/14 - QB Drew Brees completed 35 of 45 passes for 420 yards and three touchdowns, compiling a passer rating of 118.5 against Baltimore. The down side was the interception that Will Allen returned for a score and four sacks of Brees for 21 yards. Brees failed in his bid to become only the third quarterback in NFL history to beat all 32 teams when the Saints were dumped by the Ravens. Brees previously played the Ravens in 2003, when he was with the San Diego Chargers, and 2006 and 2010 with the Saints. The only quarterbacks to defeat all 32 teams are Brett Favre and Peyton Manning, who completed the feat in leading the Denver Broncos to a win over the Indianapolis Colts in the season opener in September.
11/24/14 - QB Drew Brees posted excellent stats (35 of 45 for 420 yards and three touchdowns), but again he was burned by the big mistake -- this time a 44-yard pick-six by S Will Hill in the third quarter. Brees has thrown 11 interceptions this season, and eight resulted in opponents' scores, including three returned for TDs. "As a professional, as a competitor, you want to go out and play great," Brees said. "You have to have the mental wherewithal and toughness to move past bad plays and put those behind you. It's the team that makes the least mistakes that wins, not necessarily the team that makes the most amount of good plays."
11/16/14 - QB Drew Brees completed 33 of 41 passes for 255 yards and one touchdown, but his longest completion went for 17 yards. The Saints tried some deep balls, but the Bengals were playing deep coverages and forcing Brees to check down to shorter routes. "I don't think we ran the ball as well as we'd hoped or planned," Brees said. "It was nothing exotic (on defense). They've got a good front, and on third down they didn't want us making any big plays down the field. The missed opportunities in the red zone changed the complexion of the game."
11/09/14 - QB Drew Brees has now thrown 10 interceptions in nine games, not a comfortable feeling. "At the quarterback position, you understand there's going to be moments for whatever reasons -- bad decisions, bad throws, bad luck -- that turnovers happen," Brees said. "Sometimes they come in bunches. But you've got compartmentalize that and move on to the next play and do what you're coached to do."
10/26/14 - QB Drew Brees heard some uncharacteristic criticism of his own play after the loss to the Lions, but he responded with a classic game, going 27 of 32 for 311 yards and three touchdowns. He didn't throw an interception. "Drew has set the bar so high for himself and this offense with Sean (Payton) that I really feel like the criticism is unfair," TE Jimmy Graham said. "He's a special player. He's a Hall of Famer. There's not many people who have played this game who are better."
