Draft Scout Lance Briggs News
11/28/14 - LB Lance Briggs was placed on season-ending injured reserve Friday (Nov. 28).
Briggs suffered a groin injury last Sunday in the Bears' win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and did not play in Chicago's loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday in Detroit.
The seven-time Pro Bowler had 63 tackles, 2 1/2 tackles for loss and one interception this season. He also missed three games earlier in the season with a rib injury.
The 34-year-old Briggs' 170 starts for the Bears are the fifth highest total in franchise history, trailing Walter Payton (184), Olin Kreutz (183), Brian Urlacher (180) and Mike Singletary (172). In 173 career games, Briggs has 1,564 tackles, 95.5 TFLs, 16 interceptions, 15 sacks, 19 forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries and six defensive touchdowns.
Briggs led the team in tackles in 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012. He is scheduled to become a free agent during the offseason.
11/25/14 - LB Lance Briggs is day to day with a groin injury and would not have practiced Tuesday if the Bears had practiced. It's not expected to be a season-ending injury, but is likely to keep him out of Thursday's game.
11/19/14 - LB Lance Briggs was given Wednesday off practice to rest, but is not injured. It was more of a veteran's day off. The Bears also let RB Matt Forte and DT Jeremiah Ratliff off from Wednesday's practice for the same reason.
11/03/14 - LB Lance Briggs' return from a rib injury is anticipated this week, and the addition of the defense's signal caller could be an obvious asset for a unit that has played hard but looks green at times from inexperience. "What Lance brings to the table, he's self-explanatory," defensive end Willie Young said. "He's been playing for, like, 45 years. What he brings to the table speaks for itself."
10/27/14 - LB Lance Briggs did not play Sunday due to rib injuries, but has said he should be fine to return after the bye week when the Bears are at Green Bay for a Sunday night game Nov. 9.
