Draft Scout Robert Herron News
12/24/14 - Inactive for six of the Bucs' last seven games with no catches in two months, sixth-round pick wide receiver Robert Herron has had a quiet rookie season for the Bucs, but coach Lovie Smith said it's too early to say the team is disappointed with his progress.
"Sometimes numbers really do get you," Smith said. "There's not a whole lot of room -- you talk about Vincent (Jackson), you talk about Mike (Evans), and Louis Murphy (is on injured reserve), but he's been pretty good too. It's no indictment against (Herron) or 'He's a disappointment' or anything like that. It just wasn't his time."
Herron has six catches for 58 yards this season, including a 9-yard touchdown catch from the first meeting with the Saints. Because he doesn't play on special teams, he has been inactive -- in his one game active, he was on the field as a 12th player when the Bucs were flagged, negating a key gain in the final minute of a close loss at Cleveland.
09/28/14 - WR Robert Herron was an inactive for the first time this season. He had just three catches for 18 yards in his first three games.
08/12/14 - WR Robert Herron, a sixth-round pick, took plenty of reps as the slot receiver with the first-team offense and performed well Tuesday. "Today he stepped up," coach Lovie Smith said. "You want some of your younger players to do that."

02/20/14 - 2014 NFL Combine: From 40 times to Fritos, 10 Bold Predictions: 8. Sleepers at Receiver. Extending the limb a bit, write down the names of these five wide receivers: Fresno State's Davante Adams, Wyoming's Robert Herron, New Mexico State's Austin Franklin, Saginaw Valley State's Jeff Janis and Colorado's Paul Richardson. Each may post all-around workouts that rival or perhaps even beat the efforts this week from Clemson's Sammy Watkins or Southern Cal's Marqise Lee, the two best receivers in the 2014 draft. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
