12/18/13 - RB Peyton Hillis (concussion) was not present at Wednesday's practice, as he has not passed the concussion protocol. His status for Sunday is unknown at this point.
12/17/13 - RB Peyton Hillis (concussion) was also believed to be undergoing tests to determine where he is at. Coughlin did not have an update on Hillis' status either.
10/18/13 - RB Peyton Hillis, who signed with the team on Wednesday, should be ready to go for New York on Monday night when they host the Minnesota Vikings.
"I think he can contribute right away," said head coach Tom Coughlin. "He's a veteran player and we expect that of him. Getting him ready and the opportunity to use him, that's two different things, but I think we can get him ready."
09/21/13 - RB Peyton Hillis was released by Tampa Bay.
Hillis, a former seventh-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos in 2008, broke out in 2010 when he rushed for 1,177 yards with 11 touchdowns for the Cleveland Browns.
He made the cover of the Madden NFL video game the following season but his popularity faded after a disappointing 2011 in which he rushed for just 587 yards in 10 games.
After getting released by Cleveland, he spent last season with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played 13 games but totaled just 309 yards on the ground. He then signed with the Buccaneers in the offseason.
Hillis did not play Tampa Bay's first two games. After starter Doug Martin, the Buccaneers also have Brian Leonard and Mike James as backups.
