He established himself as the top cornerback in the Big East Conference and also served a dual-role on special teams, which could keep him in the mix when final cuts are made in July. Butler finished with the 10th most return yards in school history and also displayed a nose for the end zone, becoming the first player in conference history to record a touchdown on a kick return, an interception return, a reception and a rushing play. 08/10/15 - CB Darius Butler suffered a strained groin during practice over the weekend. He has not practiced the last couple of days. While the injury is not considered to be serious, Butler's availability for the Eagles' pre-season game has yet to be decided.
03/09/15 - CB Darius Butler, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent March 10, agreed to re-sign with the Colts Sunday (March 8).
Butler's deal is worth a reported $5 million over two years and includes a $1 million signing bonus.
03/08/15 - CB Darius Butler, unrestricted FA update, has really come on for the Colts over the last couple of seasons. Butler had four interceptions in each of the 2012 and 2013 seasons. And while he did not come up with a pick this past year, Butler has developed into one of the better nickel backs in the NFL. While Indianapolis would most likely be interested in retaining his services, they may let him test the market before coming up with any kind of new deal.
