 Draft Scout Phillip Hunt News
08/18/09 - LB Phillip Hunt was waived by the Browns.
03/27/09 - Houston Pro day: The University of Houston held its pro day on Friday indoors on AstroTurf in front of representatives from 17 NFL teams. DE/ILB Phillip Hunt (6-0 7/8, 244 pounds) had times of 4.75 and 4.76 in the 40, with an impressive 41 1/2-inch vertical and a 9-foot, 8-inch broad jump. He had a 4.22 short shuttle and a 6.91 three-cone time, with 14 reps on the bench. He took part in drills to show he could pass rush and drop into coverage. – Gil Brandt, NFL.com
02/16/09 - PRO POTENTIAL: DE Phillip Hunt -- The 2008 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year and two-time first-team all-conference honoree set the school single-season (14) and career records (34) for sacks and made a record 52 consecutive starts. He also had two tackles in the East-West Shrine Game.
02/02/09 - Top 15 players NOT invited to the NFL Combine: DE Phillip Hunt (Houston): He's 6-foot-1 but proved to scouts during Shrine week that he can be a terror as a pass rusher. He also uses leverage against taller tackles to make plays against the run on the edge. - Chad Reuter, The Sports Xchange, NFLDraftScout.com
01/13/09 - East-West Shrine Monday practice: DE Phillip Hunt used his lack of height to get leverage and get under the shoulder on pass rushes against taller left tackles. However, he found it difficult to disengage to tackle the ballcarrier coming his way. - Chad Reuter, The SportsXchange, NFL Draft Scout
