Cougars recorded at least 400 yards of total offense in 11 games and at least 500 yards in seven games...2006: Offensive lineman who was forced to miss the entire season with a back injury...2005: Appeared in eight games as a reserve... played both tackle and tight end... was on special teams as well...2004: Redshirted the season... born in Duesseldorf, Germany.

Post-Draft Outlook:
A closer look at the Patriots' picks: 2/58 -- Sebastian Vollmer, OT, 6-7, 312, Houston...With their fourth second-round pick, the Patriots shored up the trenches by drafting a left tackle with the versatility to play tight end. Vollmer didn't start playing football until he was 14. When he did he helped his German prep school team win two titles. His versatility as a tight end makes him a candidate for a role in the red zone, where the Patriots often use a little trickery to get on the scoreboard. He has long arms, so he's good in pass protection, but, at the end of the day, is still a work in progress seeing as though he's only been in the United States for less than a decade. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Sebastian Vollmer News
03/18/10 - OT Sebastian Vollmer, a pleasant surprise as a second-round pick last season, is one of the many who's spent virtually the entirety (save for a vacation to his native Germany) of the offseason in Foxborough getting ready for the new season. As a rookie Vollmer started eight games -- five at left tackle and three on the right side. Though long-time starters Matt Light and Nick Kaczur remain with the Patriots -- Light a former All-Pro left tackle and Kaczur having started 62 of his 68 games played over five seasons -- many expect Vollmer to grab a full-time starting role this fall. "I was here, kept working out, getting a jump on things," he said. "Just trying to get a better understanding of the whole system."
01/14/10 - RT Sebastian Vollmer started games at both tackles and took over on the right side to close out the year.
12/14/09 - OL Sebastian Vollmer played both right and left tackle Sunday, which might be the norm now that Matt Light is 100 percent healthy. Vollmer's versatility has been a major plus for the Patriots.
12/01/09 - OL Sebastian Vollmer, who filled in while LT Matt Light was absent, sat out Monday's game with a head injury sustained in the Jets' game. Vollmer will be a big asset down the stretch, so it'll be interesting to see how soon he can return to the lineup.
11/15/09 - LT Sebastian Vollmer made his fourth straight start at left tackle in place of the injured Matt Light, and the rookie shut down the dangerous Dwight Freeney. Freeney did not touch Tom Brady all game, snapping a streak of eight games with a sack for Freeney.
