Post-Draft Outlook:
A closer look at the Patriots' picks: 2/58 -- Sebastian Vollmer, OT, 6-7, 312, Houston...With their fourth second-round pick, the Patriots shored up the trenches by drafting a left tackle with the versatility to play tight end. Vollmer didn't start playing football until he was 14. When he did he helped his German prep school team win two titles. His versatility as a tight end makes him a candidate for a role in the red zone, where the Patriots often use a little trickery to get on the scoreboard. He has long arms, so he's good in pass protection, but, at the end of the day, is still a work in progress seeing as though he's only been in the United States for less than a decade. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Sebastian Vollmer News
03/02/17 - OT Sebastian Vollmer was released by the Patriots on Thursday after missing the 2016 season with hip and shoulder injuries. Vollmer, 32, will consider retirement, according to multiple reports. Marcus Cannon assumed Vollmer's starting right tackle position last season and performed well, helping prompt the decision. The 6-foot-8, 315-pound Vollmer was slated to make $2.25 million in 2017.
11/07/16 - T Sebastian Vollmer (hip) remains on PUP and has not yet begun practicing with the team. It's growing more unlikely by the day that the veteran right tackle will join the team this season. Given that he is in the final year of his contract it is quite possible that Vollmer has already played his final game in a New England uniform.
08/31/16 - RT Sebastian Vollmer (hip) was placed on the physically unable to perform list Tuesday. The veteran lineman reportedly could miss the season with the recurring ailment.
08/30/16 - RT Sebastian Vollmer and RB Dion Lewis were placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list by the New England Patriots on Tuesday. Vollmer has been out with an injury to his right hip. Various published reports claim Vollmer could possibly miss the entire season.
08/27/16 - T Sebastian Vollmer (hip) remains on PUP and reports have indicated that his 2016 season could be in jeopardy.
