His versatility as a tight end makes him a candidate for a role in the red zone, where the Patriots often use a little trickery to get on the scoreboard. 10/28/13 - RT Sebastian Vollmer was carted off the field in the second quarter against Miami with a seemingly serious and likely season-ending right leg injury. The veteran did not return. The leg was immediately stabilized on the field in an air cast before Vollmer was carted to the locker room. According to the Boston Herald, Vollmer had surgery to repair a broken bone in his right leg on Monday.
