 Draft Scout Anthony Reddick News
02/27/09 - Miami Pro day: Anthony Reddick is hoping to be drafted. He says he ran a "real low 4.5" in the 40. "It went well," Reddick said. "I'm satisfied." Asked if he expects to be drafted, Reddick said, "Yes, of course." He says his goal today was to prove that his chronic knee injuries are in the past. "Dr. (John) Uribe did a great job," Reddick said. "I'm 100 percent. I think I proved that my knee is okay." Reddick has spoken with NFL teams about his injury history and the controversy regarding his role in the FIU brawl. "The things that happened to me, it's part of life," he said. "The injuries, FIU incident, I learned from all of them. It made me a better man." Now he simply wants a chance at the NFL. "All I need is an opportunity," he said. "I'm a football player, a great one." - CaneSport
02/27/09 - Miami safety Anthony Reddick spent Friday morning showing two dozen scouts from around the NFL how he could run. Run left. Run right. Run straight ahead. Maybe even run away from his past, too. Reddick's time with the Hurricanes will be best remembered by things he wishes people would forget. The St. Thomas Aquinas alum blew out the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in 2005 and played in only one game. Blew out the ACL in his left knee playing pickup basketball in the spring of 2007 season and missed that entire season, too. And most notably, there was the unforgettable scene of him running across the field, wielding his helmet high and swinging it wildly during the infamous on-field brawl between Miami and Florida International in 2006, drawing a four-game suspension. "I learned from all those things," Reddick said, "Made me a better person, a better man." That's the message he has for the 17 teams who sent staff to the Hurricanes' practice field Friday for the annual pro day, where departing Miami players get poked, prodded, tested and measured by scouts evaluating talent ahead of the NFL draft. - AP Sports
12/28/08 - Linebacker Colin McCarthy and tight end Tervaris Johnson will not practice in the spring because of injuries. Shannon said there's a 50-50 chance defensive end Eric Moncur returns for a sixth year, but Anthony Reddick will not apply for a medical redshirt. As for quarterback Robert Marve, Shannon expects to have a meeting at some point next week. Marve is contemplating his future. If he decides to transfer, he needs to do it right now. Staying would make things difficult for Marve. Shannon probably won't name a starter until the week before the 2009 season opener because that's just the way he is. If Shannon were to choose a starter in the spring, it would at least give Marve the opportunity to leave for another Division I-A program, or I-AA school if he want to play right away. - Shandel Richardson, Sun-Sentinel
12/02/08 - 2008 ALL-ACC CONFERENCE HONORABLE MENTION (MEDIA): Anthony Reddick, s, Miami (23), has been selected All-ACC Conference Honorable Mention for the 2008 college football season by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Reddick led Miami in both total tackles (48) and solo tackles (30) against ACC competition. He started 11 of 12 games this season in a secondary that ranks 14th nationally in pass defense. He ranked seventh among all ACC defensive backs in tackles per game in league play (5.9). Reddick tied a career-high with 12 total tackles (seven solo, five assists) in a win at Duke (10/18). He also recorded at least five tackles in six of eight ACC contests. - Miami football
11/26/08 - After Tuesday's practice, safety Anthony Reddick sounded like he's leaning toward applying for a medical redshirt. He said it's basically in the hands of the NCAA, which has to grant him the extra year. A senior, Reddick has missed two seasons with injuries on both knees. They have slowed a once promising career that began with him earning Freshman All-American honors. If he returns, the Hurricanes would have lots of experience in the secondary. There's also a chance senior Randy Phillips is given a medical redshirt. Coach Randy Shannon would not comment, but InsideTheU.com reported Phillips was returning. - Shandel Richardson, Florida Sun-Sentinel
