Post-Draft Outlook:
A closer look at the Giants' picks: Round 5/151 -- Rhett Bomar, QB, 6-2, 224, Sam Houston State...Bomar started as a glittering recruit by Oklahoma and as a redshirt freshman was named All-Big 12 quarterback. But then a series of infractions caused him to be suspended from the team, at which point he abandoned his scholarship and enrolled at Sam Houston State. Has a ton of talent but must find a coach who can channel it. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Rhett Bomar News
07/22/10 - QB Rhett Bomar, in his second season, must show enough progress to warrant remaining on the roster after he failed to latch on last year despite being a fifth-round draft pick in 2009. Bomar has a strong arm, but also tends to throw the ball side-armed, which leaves his passes susceptible to being knocked down at the line of scrimmage. Because the team is planning to go into training camp with just three passers, Bomar should be able to get some significant work in this summer.
07/15/10 - QB Rhett Bomar, who offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said didn't get as many reps during the spring OTAs and minicamp as they would have liked, should benefit from having only three quarterbacks in camp. He should get more opportunity to establish a comfort level with running the Giants' offense.
03/04/10 - QB Rhett Bomar spent most of the season on the practice squad before being added to the 53-man roster in Week 17. Has a strong arm, but a somewhat unorthodox delivery that will continue to be a coaching focus.
01/14/10 - QB Rhett Bomar, the team's fifth-round draft pick, was signed to the 53-man roster during the final week of the season and will compete to become the primary backup to Eli Manning in 2010 should David Carr leave via free agency.
12/31/09 - QB Brett Romar was signed to the Giants' active roster from the practice squad, likely to prevent another team from signing him the final week of the season. Bomar was the Giants' fifth-round draft choice in 2009, from Sam Houston State. He completed four of nine passes in the preseason.
