 Draft Scout Graham Harrell News
05/20/10 - QB Graham Harrell, a free agent and former standout at Texas Tech signed with the Packers. At his request, Harrell was cut by the Canadian Football League's Saskatchewan Roughriders last month so he could try to latch on with an NFL team.Harrell was on Saskatchewan's injured list last year after not being signed by the Cleveland Browns following a tryout as an undrafted rookie. Green Bay reportedly released Chris Pizzotti with the signing of Harrell to maintain a quarterback depth chart of four players.
05/13/10 - QB Graham Harrell, a former Texas Tech star, is expected to work out for Green Bay this week. The 6-foot-2, 223-pound Harrell recently had a tryout with the Cleveland Browns during their minicamp. The Browns also gave Harrell a brief look-see after he wasn't drafted last year. Harrell was released last month by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. He was on the Roughriders' injured list last season. Green Bay's depth behind Rodgers and third-year backup Matt Flynn is thin. Chris Pizzotti was on the practice squad the final month of last season, and the team signed former South Dakota standout Noah Shepard as an undrafted player this spring.
03/19/09 - Texas Tech coach Mike Leach insists his quarterback is the best in the NFL draft. I know what you're thinking, asking a coach about his players is like asking a parent about their children, of course they are going to exaggerate, but Leach's comments directed toward NFL scouts and coaches was simply too amusing not to share. March 17, Dallas Morning News: Leach, who scoffs at the system-quarterback label, angrily talked about NFL teams' concern regarding Harrell's ability to work from under center. "You bring up easily the most pitiful NFL cop-out of all," Leach said in a telephone interview. "And you can send that message to the whole NFL. Any coach who has ever said or uttered those words or considers that a concern, here's my message for them: How could you possibly look yourself in the mirror and consider yourself an NFL coach and not be able to teach a guy to run back three steps, five steps and seven steps? I can teach a child that! "Any coach in the NFL who can't do that ought to be fired!" - Justin Rogers, Michigan Live
03/15/09 - Texas Tech Pro day: QB Graham Harrell (6-2, 3/8) — ran a 4.95 in the 40, but struggled somewhat in the position drills. – Gil Brandt, NFL.com
02/10/09 - PRO POTENTIAL: QB Graham Harrell is considered a late-round flyer by most draft observers, though his career numbers at Texas Tech are tough to ignore, including an NCAA-record 132 touchdown passes.
