03/28/13 - RB Ahmad Bradshaw and the Pittsburgh Steelers could be a match if the injury-prone 27-year-old can pass medical inspection.
Bradshaw visited with the Steelers on Thursday and the team gave him a physical. According to multiple reports, a deal could come together quickly if the Steelers don't see red flags with his health. That's a concern, perhaps, considering Bradshaw's history of foot and lower-leg injuries.
He had three surgeries on his right foot since entering the NFL as a seventh-round pick in 2007.
"Pound for pound, Bradshaw is one of the toughest football players that I've been around," Giants general manager Jerry Reese said in February. "Ahmad played football like Giants football should be played."
The Steelers used a medley of running backs last season, but none of a trio of Rashard Mendenhall, Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman rushed for 625 yards or averaged more than 4.0 yards per carry.
02/07/13 - RB Ahmad Bradshaw was released by the Giants Wednesday (Feb. 6). Bradshaw, who will be 27 in March, revealed at this past Super Bowl that he underwent a surgical procedure in which he had a longer screw inserted into his right foot to reinforce a second fracture that he developed in 2009 and 2011.
Although he tried to tough out the pain last year and finished with 1,015 yards on 221 carries, he ended up missing two games related to his foot and knee injuries.
"Pound for pound, Bradshaw is one of the toughest football players that I've been around," said Giants general manager Jerry Reese. "Ahmad played football like Giants football should be played."
"Regardless of the circumstances, he's going to give you everything he's got," added head coach Tom Coughlin. "If you give the ball to him, he's going to get every inch of what is there - and sometimes when it's not blocked, he still gets it."
Bradshaw was due to count $5.25 million against this year's cap.
