 Draft Scout *Darrelle Revis News
06/04/13 - CB Darrelle Revis is running, cutting and feeling better about his recovery from a torn ACL in his left knee. But the Bucs, who traded two high draft picks to the Jets in exchange for the Pro Bowl cornerback, haven't cleared Revis to practice with just over a month before the start of training camp. That doesn't bother Revis or Bucs coach Greg Schiano, who only wants him to be healthy by the time Tampa Bay visits the Jets at Metlife Stadium the first game of the regular season. "I'm confident," Revis said following the Bucs' OTA workout Tuesday. "I'm cutting. (Bucs trainer Todd Toriscelli) might tell me to slow down a little bit but I'm going full tilt and I'm cutting because I'm feeling good. Cutting and running and doing what I have to do." Will Revis be confident of his knee and comfortable in the Bucs' defense without actually playing in a football game? "I think I'm getting comfortable now," Revis said. "I'm in the walk-throughs, I'm in the meeting. The defense is easy. I'm a veteran and some of the things we did in New York, coach Schiano does down here, too. I'm fine with that. I think the biggest thing is making sure I'm 100 percent when I step out there with the guys, my teammates, and we go out there and play some great football."

04/24/13 - Darrelle Revis has extra motivation to be back on the field by Week 1, when his new team takes on the New York Jets, who traded the 27-year-old cornerback to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two draft picks. "It feels like that team is giving up on you," said Revis, introduced in Tampa one day after taking a physical and completing a six-year, $96 million contract with no guaranteed money. The Jets received the Bucs' No. 13 pick in the first round and a fourth-round pick in 2014 that could become a third-round selection if Revis is on the roster the third day of the 2014 NFL year. Revis is coming back from a torn ACL, and his ability to return in time for training camp isn't certain. Revis gave no predictions on an exact timetable for taking the field for the first time in the Buccaneers' pewter helmets, but left no doubt he's motivated to get going. "I think I'm a great player," Revis said Monday. "I feel like I'm a great player in this league."
04/21/13 - The New York Jets have given cornerback Darrelle Revis permission to negotiate a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to an ESPN report. Revis was expected to take a physical with Tampa Bay on Sunday as the teams continued to negotiate a trade that would include the Jets landing the Bucs' No. 13 overall pick in this week's NFL Draft. The Jets already have the ninth pick in Thursday's first round. Tampa Bay is reportedly willing to pay Revis around $15 million per season, a figure the Jets haven't approached as he continues to recover from ACL surgery six months ago. He was cleared to run last Monday. The Bucs finished last in the NFL in pass defense last season, and have already added former San Francisco 49ers safety Dashon Goldson in free agency. Revis showed up to the start of the voluntary start to the Jets' offseason program last week in order to earn a $1 million workout bonus clause in his contract. He currently is scheduled to enter the final year of his contract and due $3 million in base salary and $3 million in bonuses.
04/15/13 - The New York Jets' trade talks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers involving cornerback Darrelle Revis have been put on hold, ESPN reported Monday. The Jets began voluntary workouts and examined Revis, who is rehabbing a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He was examined by Dr. Russell Warren, who performed Revis' surgery last fall. New Jets general manager John Itzik also wanted to meet with the star cornerback for the first time. The Jets will evaluate Revis first before deciding the next course of action, according to ESPN. Also, backup quarterback Tim Tebow arrived at the team's facility about 90 minutes early for Monday's scheduled 8 a.m. team meeting. He has also been mentioned in trade talks. Wide receiver Santonio Holmes was a no-show. He is still recovering from foot surgery. He is not expected to join the team until later in the spring for workouts. Revis reportedly wanted to stay in Arizona, where he has been rehabbing the knee since January, but has a $1 million workout bonus. The Jets cut his pay by $3.5 million for this year but he is still guaranteed $7.5 million.
