Draft Scout *Darrelle Revis News
03/11/15 - CB Darrelle Revis is returning home.
On a day marked by blockbuster trades, one of the most stunning moves took place Tuesday night when Revis and the New York Jets agreed to reunite.
Revis tweeted: "I want to thank the Pats and Pats Nation for an unbelievable year. NEW YORK I'm coming home."
Just five hours after becoming a free agent, the Jets swooped in and secured the services of one of the best defensive players in the league.
Revis signed a five-year deal worth $70 million, which will make him the highest paid cornerback in NFL history. According to reports, $39 million is guaranteed.
By signing with the Jets, Revis picked the team that drafted him over the team he helped win a Super Bowl.
The Patriots had declined to exercise Revis' $20 million option for 2015, but they had retained exclusive negotiating rights until 4 p.m. ET.
Revis played for the Jets from 2007 to 2012, earning All-Pro honors three times. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the 2012 season.
After one season in Tampa Bay, he was released and signed a two-year deal worth $32 million with New England.
By the time the Jets traded Revis, he had worn out his welcome because of two contract holdouts.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Jets bolstered their defensive backfield with the signing of former Cleveland Browns cornerback Buster Skrine.
10/12/14 - CB Darrelle Revis shut down the Bills rookie receiver Sammy Watkins, whom coach Bill Belichick had high praise for earlier in the week. Watkins caught just two passes for 27 yards. He was not targeted on a pass until late in the third quarter.
10/06/14 - CB Darrelle Revis left the third quarter of Sunday night's win with an apparent hamstring injury and went to the locker room. But the veteran returned to finish the game.
06/01/14 - CB Darrelle Revis practiced before the media for the first time during Friday's OTA workout. Afterward, the Pro-Bowl cover man talked about the process of truly becoming a Patriot and getting up to speed on the defense in which he'll be expected to play a starring role this fall.
"It feels great," Revis said of getting used to playing with a Patriots logo. "I'm just taking my time, one day at a time. Just working. That's basically it. This is a new adventure for me. I'm just happy to be part of the Patriots organization. I've known them from playing in New York for six years. From the inside out, it's totally different. There are things you didn't expect about this organization, from top to bottom. You have to take your hat off to (owner Robert) Kraft for how this organization operates. It's a winning organization. I'm happy they've given me an opportunity to be part of it."
In typical Patriots fashion, Revis wasn't looking to make any projections as to how good the new-look New England team, or defense, could be in 2014.
"Can't put any predictions on it," Revis said. "We're in the beginning stages of practice. Still got a lot of work to do. The good thing is we still have time to get better. When the preseason comes, we'll be ready to go."
04/03/14 - CB Darrelle Revis was signed by the Patriots March 17.
