Draft Scout *Darrelle Revis News
09/28/15 - CB Darrelle Revis (groin, hamstring) missed the Jets' final defensive series of Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Eagles. Revis was listed as questionable in the days leading up to the game due to a groin injury, but head coach Todd Bowles said Sunday that Revis exited due to a hamstring ailment. On Monday, Bowles said he expects Revis to be sore this week as the Jets prepare to face the Miami Dolphins in London on Sunday.
09/27/15 - CB Darrelle Revis (hamstring) didn't play the final defensive series of the Jets' 24-17 loss to the Eagles. Revis battled a sore groin during practice last week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He said after the game that he was fine.
09/23/15 - CB Darrelle Revis (groin) did not practice Wednesday. The injury report was released after head coach Todd Bowles spoke to the media and the team said there would be no further comment until Thursday, Revis was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, less than 48 hours after he recovered two fumbles, intercepted a pass and notched four tackles in the Jets' 20-7 win over the Colts. All three of Revis' turnovers came on consecutive drives in the second half as the Colts tried coming back from a 10-0 deficit. The honor marks the third time Revis has won the AFC Defensive Player of the Week as a member of the Jets. He earned the award following week 12 of the 2009 season and following week six of the 2011 season.
09/21/15 - CB Darrelle Revis accounted for three takeaways, an interception of Andrew Luck, a recovery of a Luck fumble and a recovery of a Frank Gore fumble. He added four tackles and one pass defensed.
07/23/15 - CB Darrelle Revis acknowledged that he considered giving up football after he suffered a serious knee injury during the 2012 season.
"I did think about retiring," Revis told Sports Illustrated. "I had never been seriously injured before, and I didn't know how to handle it."
Revis suffered a torn ACL while playing for the Jets in September 2012 and underwent complex microfracture surgery. He then went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 2013 trade but said he was never fully healthy until last year when he joined the New England Patriots and helped them win the Super Bowl.
Revis credited his uncle, former NFL defensive lineman Sean Gilbert, for sticking with football.
"Most every player is thinking about retirement while he's playing because (football is) a bona fide grind," Gilbert told SI. "I told him, 'You can think that. But you've got to get over it.'"
Revis returned to New York during the offseason as a free agent and is ready to play again for the Jets with no immediate thoughts of retirement. He is pictured on the cover of this week's SI in a recreation of Joe Namath's 1965 cover for the magazine.
