Draft Scout Alex Barron News
09/02/13 - T Alex Barron had his contract terminated by the Raiders Tuesday.
08/08/13 - T Alex Barron, a washout with the St. Louis Rams, has fared well for the Raiders and even got snaps as a first-team right tackle as starter Khalif Barnes moved inside while Mike Brisiel sat out a practice.
Barron has been seen burying rookie seventh-round pick David Bass on pass blocking drills and with rookie tackle Menelik Watson out, could find himself in line for playing time.
"Alex has been a pleasant surprise in that he has played well," Allen said. "He's one of those guys that is looking for a second chance."
05/15/12 - OT Alex Barron signed a deal with Seattle on Tuesday, the team announced, along with three other rookie tryout survivors -- offensive tackle Andrew Mitchell (Cincinnati), cornerback Donny Lisowski (Montana) and tight end Cooper Helfet (Duke).
"This is real good, especially when you consider that I had to sit out all of last year on injured reserve," Barron told Seahawks.com. "But I'm over that now and moving forward. I'm here to help the team the best way I can."
Barron will be in the running for a backup job. Breno Giacomini, who signed a two-year deal after a strong finish to last season, is likely to start at right tackle and the future of 2011 first-rounder James Carpenter is uncertain because of a knee injury he suffered last November.
