08/26/13 - WR Braylon Edwards was released by the New York Jets on Monday.
Edwards was signed by the Jets on July 25 for his third stint with the team, but has been unable to fully overcome the knee issues that have plagued him in recent seasons.
Edwards had five receptions for 72 yards in two preseason games, but did not play in Saturday night's third preseason game against the New York Giants.
He had been listed as the backup to starting wide receiver Stephen Hill. Jeremy Kerley is the other starter with Santonio Holmes still working his way back from injury.
07/31/13 - WR Braylon Edwards is on a "pitch count." The Jets signed Edwards just before training camp. He turned 30 in February and has been limited by knee, hamstring and shoulder injuries since leaving the Jets for the 49ers after the 2010 season.
12/31/12 - WR Braylon Edwards (hamstring, knee), who was questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills, recorded a team-high four catches for 42 yards in the Jets' 28-9 loss. Edwards, who was claimed by the Jets off waivers from the Seahawks Dec. 11, had 10 catches for 125 yards in the final three games.

While Edwards has battled hamstring woes since joining the Jets two weeks ago, the knee injury is a new ailment and Wednesday marks the first time he has been completely held out of practice. Edwards had three catches apiece in his first two games with the Jets, who claimed him off waivers from the Seahawks on Dec. 11.
