 Draft Scout Jay Ratliff News
09/19/14 - Jeremiah Ratliff remains sidelined with a concussion and hasn't practiced this week or undergone all the league protocol for returning through Friday. Without him, Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton would get more playing time, with Sutton likely to start at three technique. Ratliff was key to holding the 49ers running attack in check Sunday.
09/14/14 - NT Jeremiah Ratliff sustained a concussion in Sunday's game. The starting nose tackle will have to pass the NFL's concussion protocol this week in order to be eligible to play next Monday night against the New York Jets.
03/05/14 - DT Jeremiah Ratliff agreed to terms on a two-year contract keeping him from becoming an unrestricted free agent on March 11. Ratliff started four of the five games he played for the Bears in 2013 after signing with the team in November, recording 14.5 tackles - including 1.5 sacks and one tackle for a loss. During Ratliff's nine-year career with Dallas (2005-12) and Chicago, the four-time Pro Bowler (2008-2011) has started 89 of 109 games played, recording 331.5 tackles - including 28.5 sacks and 26 tackles for loss - 13 fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles.
12/16/13 - DT Jeremiah Ratliff played 44 percent of the snaps for the second straight week and appears to be cementing his spot as a starter and contributor after a comeback from a groin muscle tear. He played more than both DT Stephen Paea and DT Landon Cohen. He had been off the field since last November while with Dallas, before joining the Bears and becoming healthy enough to play three weeks ago. Ratliff was used almost entirely at nose tackle instead of three-technique. "To me it really doesn't matter if it's the nose or the three or anything like that," Ratliff said. "I thank God that I'm playing. I thank God that I'm on a team. So the nose, three, (even) safety; I might raise some eyebrows but I'll play it."
12/12/13 - DT Jeremiah Ratliff impressed in his second game with the Bears against his former team, the Cowboys. "It's just amazing to me to see him, because sometimes I forget he hasn't played in over a year," defensive coordinator Mel Tucker said. "I think that might have been the second or third time he's had on shoulder pads. "Definitely it's going to be a help for us in the run game and also in pass rushing and gets us some pocket collapse. Though he's a veteran guy he's a good guy to learn from - the way he works in practice. His attention to detail and things like that. I think as he plays more he's going to have more of an impact for us."
