 Draft Scout Danny Woodhead News
09/19/16 - RB Danny Woodhead suffered a leg injury Sunday. He caught a 4-yard pass from Philip Rivers and was tackled by Telvin Smith. But unlike so many times when the 5-foot-8, 200-pound Woodhead absorbed a solid hit and got right back up to make another play, he stayed down. A few minutes later, Woodhead was helped to his feet and off the field, bearing no weight on his right leg. He didn't play again for the game's remainder and coach Mike McCoy said afterward that Woodhead would undergo an MRI on Monday. Losing Woodhead for any length of time will hurt San Diego. He's been a safety blanket of sorts for Rivers in the passing game, catching 76 passes in 2013 and a career-high 80 in 2015 after missing most of 2014 with an ACL tear. "Two of our most dynamic players," Rivers said of Woodhead and WR Keenan Allen. "And that's really an understatement."
09/19/16 - RB Danny Woodhead will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his right knee in Sunday's win over Jacksonville. Woodhead's injury leaves the Chargers with just three healthy running backs -- Melvin Gordon, Kenneth Farrow and Andre Williams. Late in the first quarter of Sunday's 38-14 win, the 31-year-old Woodhead caught a 4-yard pass from Philip Rivers and was tackled by Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith. Woodhead eventually was helped to his feet and off the field, bearing no weight on his right leg. Last season, he played all 16 games and finished with the most receiving yards (755) in the NFL for a running back. He added 336 rushing yards.
09/19/16 - RB Danny Woodhead tore a knee ligament on Sunday against the Jaguars and was placed on season-ending IR.
09/18/16 - RB Danny Woodhead was helped off the field at Qualcomm Stadium Sunday in the first quarter with a right leg injury. Woodhead caught a pass for a 4-yard gain and was tackled by the Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith. He stayed down for a few minutes until the training staff helped him up. Woodhead wasn't putting weight on his leg as he came off the field.
08/17/16 - RB Danny Woodhead has looked especially nimble in camp. Woodhead's versatility continues to be a blessing for the Chargers offense, which can use him in many ways with new coordinator Ken Whisenhunt.
