Post-Draft Outlook:
A closer look at the Jets' picks: Round 3/65 -- Shonn Greene, RB, 5-11, 227, Iowa...Just as they did with Sanchez, the Jets traded (three picks this time) so they could move up and grab the bulky tailback with excellent vision and the ability to run hard between the tackles. Greene rushed for 1,850 yards as a junior in 2008, with 20 rushing touchdowns and 6.0 yards per carry and won the Doak Walker Award as the top running back in the nation. He missed the 2007 season because he was academically ineligible, so has had only season as a starter. He can make yardage after contact and can find holes, but his speed has been questioned, as he runs only a 4.62 in the 40. He needs to improve in the passing game, both as a receiver and in picking up blitzes. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout *Shonn Greene News
03/13/13 - RB Shonn Greene, who started for the New York Jets since 2011, signed as a free agent on Wednesday with the Tennessee Titans. The contract reportedly is worth 10-million over three years. Greene took over as the starter with the Jets two seasons ago after backing up LaDanian Tomlinson in 2010. Last season, Greene started 14 of 16 games for the Jets and rushed for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns. In Tennessee, it is expected that Greene will back up Chris Johnson, in addition to being a third down and short yardage back.
01/09/13 - RB Shonn Greene gained 1,000 yards for the second straight season and teamed up with Bilal Powell to form a solid, if unspectacular, running back by committee. The duo collected exactly 1,500 yards and were the lynchpins to wins over the Cardinals and Jaguars. But Greene is a free agent and the Jets are likely to look for an upgrade on a plodder who averaged a career-low 3.9 yards per carry in his age-27 season. Powell probably isn't a true no. 1 back, but he proved to be an excellent third-down back and has a little more juice in his legs than Greene, so he could serve as a three-down back if the Jets want to reallocate some of their few free agent bucks elsewhere.
12/31/12 - RB Shonn Greene reached the 1,000-yard mark for the second straight season Sunday, when he rushed for 74 yards on 19 carries in the Jets' 28-9 loss to the Bills. Greene entered the game just 11 yards shy of 1,000 and reached the milestone on his third carry. Greene finished 2012 with career highs in both yards (1,063, the 14th-most in the NFL) and rushing touchdowns (eight, tied for 11th-best in the NFL).
12/28/12 - RB Shonn Greene needs just 11 rushing yards against the Bills Sunday to reach 1,000 yards for the second straight season. He'd be the fifth player in franchise history to record 1,000 yards rushing in consecutive seasons. Freeman McNeil (1984-85) and Adrian Murrell (1996-97) had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, Thomas Jones (2007-09) had three straight 1,000-yard campaigns and Hall of Famer Curtis Martin (1998-2004) rushed for 1,000 yards in his each of his first seven seasons with the Jets.
12/26/12 - RB Shonn Greene is 11 yards shy of rushing for 1,000 yards for the second straight season. Greene also needs 66 yards to exceed last year's career-high 1,054 yards.
