Post-Draft Outlook:
A closer look at the Jets' picks: Round 3/65 -- Shonn Greene, RB, 5-11, 227, Iowa...Just as they did with Sanchez, the Jets traded (three picks this time) so they could move up and grab the bulky tailback with excellent vision and the ability to run hard between the tackles. Greene rushed for 1,850 yards as a junior in 2008, with 20 rushing touchdowns and 6.0 yards per carry and won the Doak Walker Award as the top running back in the nation. He missed the 2007 season because he was academically ineligible, so has had only season as a starter. He can make yardage after contact and can find holes, but his speed has been questioned, as he runs only a 4.62 in the 40. He needs to improve in the passing game, both as a receiver and in picking up blitzes. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout *Shonn Greene News
01/27/10 - RB Shonn Greene emerged during the playoffs with two 100-yard games and touchdown runs of 39 and 53 yards, but he still is injury-prone, and left the AFC title game after hurting his ribs. Because of that, it may not be wise to jettison Jones and make Greene the featured back, simply because his durability is a question mark.
01/25/10 - RB Shonn Greene left Sunday's game with a rib injury in the third quarter and didn't return, but is expected to be OK and shouldn't miss any time in the Jets' offseason conditioning program.
01/24/10 - RB Shonn Greene had 41 yards on 10 carries, but left the game in the third quarter with a rib injury and didn't return.
01/19/10 - RB Shonn Greene didn't even play in the Jets' first two games of the season. He was a healthy scratch in the first and dressed but didn't get into the game in the second one. At the time, he was having trouble figuring out the Jets' blitz protection schemes. He eventually did, and has proven to be a huge part of the Jets' playoff run. Because of his lack of work early, Greene is much fresher at the moment than starter Thomas Jones. In the last four games, Greene has 420 yards rushing on 73 carries. "It's just wonderful," said Greene, who is from Sicklerville, N.J. "Being so close to home, having my family see me play. It's a blessing. It's a total surprise, but you never know what can happen." Greene didn't figure too much in the Jets' early-season game plans, as he sat on the depth chart behind Jones and do-everything back Leon Washington. But after Washington broke his right leg during a game in Oakland and was put on injured reserve, Greene moved up in the pecking order.
01/17/10 - RB Shonn Greene again got the bulk of the carries (23) against San Diego as starter Thomas Jones had only 14. Greene is fresh because he didn't play much until late October
