 Draft Scout Marlon Lucky News
08/22/09 - RB Marlon Lucky was waived by Cincinnati.
08/16/09 - RBs Marlon Lucky vs. Brian Leonard, Bernard Scott, James Johnson and DeDe Dorsey for second and third running back. Scott got to play with the second unit on Friday and finished as the team's leading rusher with 30 yards on six carries. He showed the nice open-field running that makes him a good change-of-pace back in the offense. Leonard is expected to be the second and short-yardage back, but he struggled in short-yardage situations. Dorsey is trying to hang on to a roster spot while Johnson and Lucky face long odds.
03/13/09 - Nebraska Pro day: Twenty teams were represented to watch 16 prospects work out on FieldTurf. Carolina offensive line coach Dave Magazu and Miami offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo were in attendance. RB Marlon Lucky (5-11 1/2, 214) ran a 4.53 and 4.56 in the 40 and didn’t do any other workout or position drills. – Gil Brandt, NFL.com
02/08/09 - PRO POTENTIAL: RB Marlon Lucky admitted he was re-thinking his decision to return for his senior season. After his junior season, he was projected as a third-round or fourth-round pick. He decided to return, and was limited late in the season by a turf-toe injury. He finished with 517 rushing yards and 288 receiving yards.
01/18/09 - Marlon Lucky made the most of his rare moments in the spotlight in the East-West Shrine Game. The former Husker rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on seven carries to help the East secure a 24-19 win over the West on Saturday in the annual showcase for college all-stars hoping to make an impression on NFL scouts. Lucky was Nebraska's second-leading rusher this season, splitting carries with Roy Helu and Quentin Castille. By season's end, Lucky was third on the depth chart and needed a good performance to help his chances of playing in the pros. "It was a big one for me," said Lucky, voted the game's offensive MVP. "I didn't have a strong year and to just come out and play my game and show what I can do, I seized the opportunity. Now it's back to training." Stephen McGee, who missed most of his last season at Texas A&M with a sprained shoulder, threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Jarett Dillard with 14:07 left in the game to help the West pull within five points. Dillard dropped a pass from McGee on the two-point conversion. Central Washington quarterback Mike Reilly replaced McGee for the West's final drive and moved his team inside the 10. Under a heavy pass rush on fourth down, Reilly's last-ditch pass to Marko Mitchell sailed out of bounds with 1:55 left. The East won for the first time since 2005 and set the tone with an early goal-line stand. - AP Sports/Omaha World-Herald
