 Draft Scout Harrison Beck News
10/23/09 - The top ranked University of North Alabama Lions made quick work of rival Valdosta State Thursday as UNA rolled to a 34-6 halftime advanatage and cruised to a 62-27 win over the Blazers. With the win the 9-0 Lions are guaranteed at least a share of the Gulf South Conference Championship. The Lions are 6-0 in league play and hold a two game lead with two games left to play. In a game televised by CBS College Sports, the Lions got 350 yards passing and five combined touchdowns from quarterback Harrison Beck. The senior from Clearwater, Fla., threw for four scores and rushed for another to lead the rout. Beck was 25-of-39 passing for the Lions and Mico McSwain had six catches for 133 yards and two scores. The win was UNA’s first defense of it’s No. 1 ranking in the NCAA Division II after the Lions moved into the top spot on Monday. North Alabama remained one of just six unbeaten squads in Division II. The 62 points scored by the Lions are the most ever scored against Valdosta State since the Blazers began playing football in 1982. UNA finished with 518 yards of total offense with 439 passing and 79 rushing. The Lions scored seven touchdowns on offense, one on defense and one on special teams. - North Alabama football/AP Sports
10/22/09 - UNA quarterback Harrison Beck has a streak of five straight games where he has thrown three touchdown passes or more. He has thrown 17 TD passes in the last five weeks with three against West Georgia, three against Harding, five against Arkansas Tech, three against North Greenville and three against Delta State. Beck had 426 yards of total offense against Arkansas Tech and fell just one yard shy of the school record of 427 set by Will Hall against Southern Arkansas in 2002. - North Alabama football

Last week’s No. 1, Abilene Christian (Texas) dropped to No. 9 this week after losing to West Texas A&M, 32-21. Central Washington, Bloomsburg (Pa.), Northwest Missouri State and Minnesota State-Mankato round out the Top 5. California (Pa.) re-entered the poll at No. 24 this week after a six-week layoff, along with Hillsdale (Mich.), who jumped into the polls at No. 25 thanks to two straight upsets over Top 25 teams, including a win over then-No. 1 Grand Valley State (Mich.) two weeks ago. - AFCA
