 Draft Scout *Brian Hartline News
07/30/10 - WR Brian Hartline paid a $115 fine for failing to report a crash, according to the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. Florida Highway Patrol found his smashed-up pickup truck abandoned on a local highway July 3. Hartline, who is expected to battle sure-handed receiver Greg Camarillo for a starting job opposite offseason acquisition Brandon Marshall, failed to respond to police inquiries.
07/22/10 - WR Brian Hartline made a huge impact in his rookie season, but his recent impact wasn't as impressive when Florida Highway Patrol found his smashed-up pickup truck abandoned on a local highway. Hartline, who is expected to battle sure-handed receiver Greg Camarillo for a starting job opposite offseason acquisition Brandon Marshall, has yet to respond to police inquiries. Hartline is the fifth Dolphins player to wind up on a police report in the last year. Running back Ronnie Brown and cornerback Will Allen were arrested and charged with driving under the influence, while defensive linemen Phillip Merling and Tony McDaniel were arrested following domestic disputes. Brown's case has been continued to Sept. 2. He isn't expected to miss any practices or game time while recovering from foot surgery. However, Merling has been charged with felony battery on his pregnant girlfriend. His attorney has filed a not guilty plea and a demand for a jury trial. Merling, coming off a so-so second season with 33 tackles and 2.5 sacks, faces up to 15 years in prison, and of course a potential suspension from the league for violating the conduct policy. Merling, who played all 16 games last year with one start, is battling first-round rookie defensive end Jared Odrick for the right defensive end job since Randy Starks shifted to nose tackle. If Hartline continues to dodge police requests for an explanation on why they found his 2008 Ford pickup truck abandoned on I-595 in Fort Lauderdale on July 3 at 4:30 a.m., he could face charges of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and for not reporting an accident. Both are misdemeanors. The other vehicle, a Cadillac Escalade, was broken down and abandoned, but parked legally on the side of the road when Hartline's vehicle allegedly smashed into it. Hartline, a fourth-round pick from Ohio State, started two games but still led the team with three touchdown receptions and in yards-per-catch (16.3). He had 31 catches for 5
07/15/10 - WR Brian Hartline has yet to respond to police inquiries regarding his alleged abandonment of his Ford pickup truck early on the morning of July 3. His vehicle apparently struck an abandoned Cadillac Escalade that was legally parked on the side of a highway in Fort Lauderdale. Charges are pending an investigation. He's the fifth Dolphin to appear on a police report this offseason, including running back Ronnie Brown and cornerback Will Allen, who were arrested and charged with driving under the influence, and defensive linemen Phillip Merling and Tony McDaniel, who were arrested following domestic disputes.
07/13/10 - WR Brian Harline's truck was found abandoned after a crash on I-595 earlier this month, according to the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. The police report cited by the paper says Hartline has not contacted police since the incident, but that his attorney told authorities that he was not injured. Hartline is expected to compete for the starting job opposite Brandon Marshall.
06/24/10 - WR Brian Hartline, coming off a solid rookie season in which he basically made former Ohio State teammate Ted Ginn Jr. expendable by leading the team in yards-per-catch (16.3)and touchdown receptions (three), is pushing veteran Greg Camarillo for the starting role opposite offseason acquisition Brandon Marshall. Hartline is faster and more explosive than Camarillo, who is arguably the most sure-handed receiver on the team.
