Draft Scout Jamaal Charles News
01/10/17 - RB Jamaal Charles wrote on his personal website that he is uncertain about his future after undergoing knee surgery in November. "I honestly don't know what the future holds for me," the 30-year-old said after being placed on injured reserve Nov. 1 with a meniscus tear in his right knee. The surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews, who also cleaned out Charles' left knee. Both procedures were minor. Charles is owed $7 million in salary and bonuses next season and will "almost certainly" be asked to take a pay cut, NFL.com reports.
12/15/16 - RB Jamaal Charles (knee) and his immediate future has been the subject of discussion around Arrowhead Stadium. Charles went to the injured reserve list on November 1 and had both of his knees operated on by noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Pending other developments, Charles could return to the active roster just before the final regular-season game on January 1 against San Diego. "I don't know that," said head coach Andy Reid of Charles. "He's still down at Dr. Andrews rehabbing down there (Florida.) They're working on getting the swelling out of his knees or out of his one knee in particular. We'll see how all of this works down the road."
11/17/16 - Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles had his left knee scoped on Monday, team trainer Rick Burkholder said Thursday.
Charles was placed on injured reserve Nov. 1 and had his right knee scoped by Dr. James Andrews the following day. The Chiefs were hoping Charles might return for the regular-season finale or any postseason games but the second procedure this month might make a return this season unlikely.
11/17/16 - RB Jamaal Charles (knees) underwent a second knee surgery this week and remains on the club's injured-reserve list. Charles had surgery on his right knee in November when orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews trimmed his meniscus. On Monday, Dr. Andrews scoped his left knee for some clean up. "He's had his right knee scoped and now he's had his left knee scoped," Chiefs head trainer Rick Burkholder said. "The rehab is the same. We anticipate recovery will be fine."
11/02/16 - RB Jamaal Charles had exploratory surgery Wednesday on his right knee by Dr. James Andrews. The four-time Pro Bowl selection was placed on injured reserve Tuesday and he will miss at least eight weeks. Charles tore the ACL in his right knee 12-plus months ago and has never fully healed. He has experienced multiple setbacks this season. Charles played sparingly in 2016 with 40 yards on 12 carries over three games. He sat out the game against the Colts due to knee soreness.
