 Draft Scout Jamaal Charles News
05/02/17 - RB Jamaal Charles, who has been hampered by knee injuries in recent years, agreed to a one-year contract with the Denver Broncos, the team announced Tuesday. The deal is worth up to $3.75 million, according to the NFL Network. Charles was released by the Kansas City Chiefs in February after spending nine seasons with that club and becoming the Chiefs' career rushing leader. He is a four-time Pro Bowl selection with impressive statistics, but he is 30 years old and played only eight games in the past two seasons combined because of injuries. Charles has rushed for 7,260 yards, and his career yards-per-carry average of 5.5 ranks first among NFL running backs all-time.
03/10/17 - RB Jamaal Charles will visit the Seahawks amidst mutual interest between the 29-year-old and Seattle. But his last healthy season was in 2014, and a history of knee injuries could drive down his price. Charles was placed on injured reserve Nov. 1 with a meniscus tear in his right knee and was released by the Kansas City Chiefs as the NFL world converged on Indianapolis for the start of the Scouting Combine.
02/28/17 - RB Jamaal Charles was released by the Chiefs on Tuesday after missing most of the 2016 season recovering from an ACL tear. Charles, 30, missed all but three games after tearing the ACL in his right knee in 2015. He underwent surgery on both knees in November. The four-time Pro Bowler rushed for 7,260 yards and 43 touchdowns in 103 games with the Chiefs.
01/10/17 - RB Jamaal Charles wrote on his personal website that he is uncertain about his future after undergoing knee surgery in November. "I honestly don't know what the future holds for me," the 30-year-old said after being placed on injured reserve Nov. 1 with a meniscus tear in his right knee. The surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews, who also cleaned out Charles' left knee. Both procedures were minor. Charles is owed $7 million in salary and bonuses next season and will "almost certainly" be asked to take a pay cut, NFL.com reports.
12/15/16 - RB Jamaal Charles (knee) and his immediate future has been the subject of discussion around Arrowhead Stadium. Charles went to the injured reserve list on November 1 and had both of his knees operated on by noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Pending other developments, Charles could return to the active roster just before the final regular-season game on January 1 against San Diego. "I don't know that," said head coach Andy Reid of Charles. "He's still down at Dr. Andrews rehabbing down there (Florida.) They're working on getting the swelling out of his knees or out of his one knee in particular. We'll see how all of this works down the road."
