Post-Draft Outlook: A closer look at the Bears' picks: Round 4/105 -- Henry Melton, DE, 6-3, 280, Texas...A project who could take some time to develop because of his limited experience at end. Backup running back in his first two seasons. Carried 132 times for 625 yards (4.7-yard average) and 16 touchdowns. Didn't become a starter until senior season and even then didn't post great numbers (29 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 4 sacks) but showed fine athleticism for the position. Has great physical tools, runs well and has excellent agility. Arrested for DUI in 2007 and served a three-game suspension. - by The Sports Xchange

Draft Scout Henry Melton News
08/26/14 - DT Henry Melton (knee, groin) and CB Morris Claiborne (shoulder) could play in the preseason finale against the Broncos to get some reps before the Sept. 7 season opener against the 49ers. Both returned to practice this week after missing the first three preseason games. The Cowboys have yet to make a final decision.
"They would be able to play," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said of the possibility of playing Melton and Claiborne. "We're still going to use the next couple of days to make that decision. ... There is some real value for those guys to play in the game. You obviously balance that with giving them a chance to rest even more before the game next week. We anticipate those guys hopefully being available for us for the opener, and we've got to decide what we want to do with them for the next couple of days in regards to Thursday night."
08/25/14 - DT Henry Melton (groin) went through practice Monday and could play in the preseason finale against the Broncos Thursday to get in some reps before the Sept. 7 season opener. He has yet to play in any preseason games. Coach Jason Garrett felt Melton looked good and "fairly natural moving around."
08/18/14 - DT Henry Melton could see some time in the preseason game against the Dolphins Saturday night-- if he gets back on the practice field this week. Melton sat out the first preseason game for precautionary reasons and missed the second one because of a groin strain. The Cowboys will remain careful with Melton. If he isn't ready, they will hold him out of the Dolphins game so he will be ready for the season opener. But he will try to return to practice this week and hopefully get some snaps against the Dolphins.
08/15/14 - DT Henry Melton will miss his second straight game after suffering a groin injury in practice. The Cowboys held Melton out the preseason opener out of precaution. He missed last season with a torn ACL and the team was bringing him along slowly in camp. But now the groin has set back his return from the ACL. He should be ready for the start of the season but Melton may miss the entire preseason.
03/18/14 - DT Henry Melton is headed to Dallas.
The former University of Texas player announced Tuesday night via Twitter that he was returning to the Longhorn state. ESPN reported that Melton landed a multiyear deal.
"Thank you chicago for the best 5 years of my life!.... I can't wait to begin the next chapter of my life... With a star on my helmet," Melton tweeted.
There is some uncertainty surrounding Melton, who was named to the Pro Bowl in 2012. He suffered a torn ACL last season, and played only three games.
In 48 career regular-season games with the Bears, Melton had 88 tackles, 15.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles.
With the Cowboys, Melton will be reunited with new Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, who served in the same position with the Bears.
