Post-Draft Outlook:
A closer look at the Bears' picks: Round 4/105 -- Henry Melton, DE, 6-3, 280, Texas...A project who could take some time to develop because of his limited experience at end. Backup running back in his first two seasons. Carried 132 times for 625 yards (4.7-yard average) and 16 touchdowns. Didn't become a starter until senior season and even then didn't post great numbers (29 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 4 sacks) but showed fine athleticism for the position. Has great physical tools, runs well and has excellent agility. Arrested for DUI in 2007 and served a three-game suspension. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Henry Melton News
09/15/14 - DT Henry Melton made his presence felt for the first time with a half sack, a quarterback hurry and a tipped pass that led to an interception against the Titans. Melton was limited in the season opener against the 49ers because he missed the entire preseason with knee and groin injuries. He got a full load against the Titans and had an instant impact.
09/01/14 - DT Henry Melton practiced full-out Monday and is ready for the season opener after missing the entire preseason with knee and groin injuries. "The biggest thing for (Melton)," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said, "is to get out there and practice and go against a live opponent. He was able to do some of that today." Melton doesn't know how many snaps he will get in the season opener against the 49ers. He will leave that up to the coaches.
08/29/14 - DT Henry Melton (knee, groin) and CB Morris Claiborne (shoulder) could play in the preseason finale against the Broncos to get some reps before the Sept. 7 season opener against the 49ers. Both returned to practice this week after missing the first three preseason games. The Cowboys have yet to make a final decision. "They would be able to play," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said of the possibility of playing Melton and Claiborne. "We're still going to use the next couple of days to make that decision. ... There is some real value for those guys to play in the game. You obviously balance that with giving them a chance to rest even more before the game next week. We anticipate those guys hopefully being available for us for the opener, and we've got to decide what we want to do with them for the next couple of days in regards to Thursday night."
08/29/14 - DT Henry Melton was supposed to play in the preseason final against the Denver to get some reps before the Sept. 7 season opener against the 49ers. Melton warmed up but the Cowboys decided against having him play -- despite missing the first three preseason games because of knee rehab and a groin injury. "We wanted to get those guys an opportunity if we could to just come out and have a little game action," coach Jason Garrett said. "We've had this situation a number of times in the past where you just make a decision that says, ‘Let's not play them this situation. Let's give him 10 more days before he's in a game and hopefully that will help him.'"
