Draft Scout Snapshot: DS Rating on 1/2/09: #2 Junior OT, #12/750 Overall, Projected Rnd: 1 in 2010
2008: Member of the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List, selected by the Football Writers Association...Limited for several fall scrimmages by a groin strain, but used the time to acclimate to the demanding left tackle position after playing on the right side during his first two seasons...With Britton on the left side, the offense relied heavily on him for his stellar blocking...Named one of the team's five captains, the Wildcats generated 2,988 of its 5,231 yards in total offense (57.12 percent) over the left side of the field...On 58 rushing attempts that gained at least 10 yards by a Wildcats runner, 45 of those carries came over the left side of the line...Arizona completed 117 passes for 10 yards or longer, with 76 of those tosses going to the left side of the field (59.83 percent)...Britton quickly adjusted to his new position, registering a school season-record 125 key blocks/ knockdowns with 17 touchdown-resulting blocks (best in the conference) and 12 blocks downfield, leading an offensive charge that saw the Wildcats average 401.25 yards in total offense, 237.25 yards passing and 164.00 yards rushing per game, as their average of 37.08 points scored per game ranks third in the Pac-10 and 16th in the nation during the regular season...His 111 knockdown blocks topped the previous school season-record of 106 by 1998 Morris Trophy winner and All-American offensive guard Yusef Scott...Had at least one touchdown-resulting block in each of 13 contests played...2007: Britton drew attention from his first day in the program onward. The 6-6, 340-pound right tackle earned second-team All-Pac-10 honors in 2007. He's a versatile athlete in a big body (6-6, 310), an academic-honors student, and will be a 24-starts...2006: Arizona's most consistent and best offensive lineman in 2006, Britton has the potential to be one of UA's best ever at the tackle position... 2005: Redshirted in 2005 as a tackle, although he and fellow line mates did make some road trips as emergency options... One of the team's early recruits in the class of 2005.

Post-Draft Outlook:
COULD SURPRISE: Eben Britton. With much of the focus on Monroe, Britton becomes the overlooked player in the draft in that he plays the same position, though he has the versatility to play either tackle spot or inside at one of the guard positions. What makes Britton so valuable is that many had forecast him to be a first-round selection. That snub to the second round already has grated at Britton, who vows to make every team that he faces pay for their oversight. Those are only fighting words, but it could be enough to propel him into the starting lineup, where he could have a lengthy NFL career. A closer look at the Jaguars' picks: Round 2/39, Eben Britton, OT, 6-6, 310, Arizona...While the selection of Monroe was a no-brainer, picking Britton was a surprise considering all the other needs the Jaguars have. Britton was a two-year starter at right tackle for the Wildcats before moving to the left tackle spot his senior year. He can handle either spot, as evidenced by his being named All-Conference and receiving All-America recognition at both positions. He has good discipline as he was only penalized four times on 2,461 offensive snaps in his three years. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout *Eben Britton News
03/04/10 - OT Eben Britton was a 16-game starter who progressed faster than first-round pick Eugene Monroe. Aggressive and nasty at times, the team likes his demeanor. Still has lots to learn but should be a fixture at the right OT spot for years.
01/15/10 - RT Eben Britton and LT Eugene Monroe were drafted in the first two rounds, and the Jaguars seem set at those spots for the next decade. Britton actually outplayed Monroe, the first-rounder who struggled at times, but the Jaguars think he just needs more time to develop.
12/07/09 - OT Eben Britton is a believer in the destiny theory. He had the phrase "sacrifice for destiny" in Latin tattooed in big letters on his left forearm. He got that before his last season in college. "We've got a lot of good breaks, knock on wood," Britton said. "You need that sometimes." Of his tattoo about destiny, he said, "That (destiny) has always been kind of a big thing for me. I don't know if I necessarily believe in fate if you sit around and do nothing. But if you're doing the right thing and striving to be the best like this group, really, you make your destiny. It's a long road and it's a hard one, too." Of his destiny, he said, "I've definitely been blessed. You constantly (try) to reach a pinnacle. That's like a never-ending process."
10/04/09 - OT Eben Britton (knee) will not play Sunday and is inactive. Mo Williams will start at right tackle.
10/03/09 - RT Eben Britton (knee) is listed as doubtful and did not practice Friday.
