 Draft Scout *Ray Rice News
10/29/14 - The Ravens' salary-cap space has been reduced to $4.133 million under the NFL salary-cap limit while indefinitely suspended former running back Ray Rice's grievance against the team remains a pending matter. The Ravens lost approximately $1.411 million in salary-cap room after Rice filed his grievance. The Ravens created a net savings of $3.529 million in salary and cap space for this fiscal year when they terminated Rice's $35 million contract. They also took on $4.755 million in dead money for this year and $9.5 million in dead money in 2015, reflecting the pro-rated portion of the $22 million in guaranteed money already paid to Rice that still counts against the Ravens' salary cap even though he's no longer on the roster. Should Rice win his grievance against the Ravens for wrongful termination, he would be owed $3.529 million in salary that he was due before the team cut him. The Ravens can carry over the salary-cap space they don't use this season for next year.
09/10/14 - RB Ray Rice had his contract terminated by the Ravens and he was suspended indefinitely by the league after a video surfaced from inside the elevator releated to a domestic violence incident with his wife in February.
08/29/14 - RB Ray Rice (two-game personal conduct policy suspension ) will be placed on the reserve-suspended list.
08/24/14 - RB Ray Rice didn't play against the Redskins in advance of his two-game suspension for violating the NFL personal-conduct policy.
07/24/14 - RB Ray Rice has been suspended for the first two games of the regular season by the NFL following his offseason arrest on an assault charge stemming from an incident with his fiancee, according to ESPN. Rice stands to lose more than $470,000 in base salary and will also be fined $58,000, per the report. Rice can practice with the team and play in preseason games, with the suspension beginning Aug. 30. He is eligible to be reinstated Sept. 12, meaning Rice will miss a pair of key home games against division rivals - the season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals and a Week 2 tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.
