Draft Scout Tyrell Fenroy News
04/27/09 - Passed over in this weekend's NFL draft, former UL quarterback Michael Desormeaux, running back Tyrell Fenroy and wide receiver Jason Chery quickly found homes as rookie free agents. Fenroy agreed to terms Sunday night with the Chicago Bears. Chicago showed Fenroy the most interest leading up to the draft, so the all-time rushing leader in school, conference and state history wasn't shocked when he got the call with a contract offer Sunday. Fenroy signed with the Bears over opportunities to try out with the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers. Chicago has a familiar name for Fenroy in ex-UL defensive back Charles Tillman, who has played for the Bears since getting drafted by the team in the second round of the 2003 draft. "The Bears were the only team to offer me a contract, so that showed that they really wanted me up there," said Fenroy, the 2008 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year. "I always wanted to get drafted, but I'm ready to go out there and earn it. "I'm going to go and earn my spot on the team." Fenroy left his mark on UL's program. He ran for 4,646 career yards and 48 career touchdowns. He became only the seventh player in NCAA history to rush for 1,000 yards four times. 03/17/09 - Louisiana-Lafayette Pro day: Fourteen former Ragin’ Cajuns worked out on Tuesday for scouts representing 20 different NFL teams at the Ragin’ Cajuns 2009 Pro Timing Day. The players worked various drills to show their strength, speed and athleticism. Standout running back Tyrell Fenroy was clocked by one scout at 4.46 in the 40-yard dash, but his composite fastest time equaled only 4.515. Fenroy had a vertical jump of 38 inches and did 18 reps in the 225 bench press. - ULL football

01/16/09 - Fenroy, who has yet to be invited to a postseason all-star game or the NFL Combine, plans to spend a couple days in Lafayette before returning to Florida. There's a chance he could train for a few days with former UL teammate Michael Desormeaux, who is currently training at TEST Sports Club in New Jersey. The plan is for Fenroy - who signed last month with agent Harold Lewis from National Sports Agency in St. Louis - to be ready for scouts at UL's Pro Day in mid-March. "Even if I don't get invited to an all-star game or the Combine, scouts will still be at our Pro Day," Fenroy said.
