 Draft Scout Justin Forsett News
12/07/16 - RB Justin Forsett didn't need much time to get up to speed during his first practice as a Bronco on Wednesday. Wearing jersey No. 20, Forsett was able to step in as if he'd been with the team all season, having played under Kubiak in Houston and Baltimore during the 2012 and 2014 seasons. He was also with Seattle when the Seahawks utilized similar principles in their scheme. "The terminology and everything I've been in for maybe seven out of the nine years that I have been playing in this league -- it's all familiar with me," he said. "As far as the playbook and the system, I feel at home." The Broncos need him to be a quick study. They claimed him off waivers from the Lions on Monday after Kapri Bibbs was placed on injured reserve because of an ankle sprain, and Kubiak said he plans to use Forsett in relief of rookie Devontae Booker right away. Booker is starting because of C.J. Anderson's torn meniscus. Anderson isn't eligible to return to the 53-man roster until Week 17. "(Forsett) understands protections," Kubiak said. "He understands exactly what we're doing, so that's nice to walk on the field today. We really didn't have a new player in a lot of ways other than a new face." And it's a new face looking for a final shot at redemption. The nine-year veteran has been cut by the Ravens and Lions this year, and has averaged just 3.1 yards per carry in his ninth NFL season.
12/05/16 - RB Justin Forsett was claimed off waivers Monday to replace Bibbs. Forsett was waived by the Lions on Saturday.
11/21/16 - RB Justin Forsett (healthy scratch) and LB DeAndre Levy (knee) were inactive Sunday.
10/13/16 - RB Justin Forsett has a message for everyone who thinks he's washed up as an NFL running back. "Watch me," Forsett said. The Detroit Lions signed Forsett on Tuesday, a week after he was released by the Baltimore Ravens, in an effort to bolster a running game that's been cut down by injuries. Forsett's days as a lead back have passed, and at age 31, he's clearly on the backside of his career. But Lions coach Jim Caldwell said the former 1,200-yard back is a welcome addition to the Lions offense.
10/04/16 - RB Justin Forsett was released by the Ravens on Tuesday after a mutual agreement that it was time for the running back to bow out of Baltimore. Forsett, benched in favor of Terrance West in Week 4, was averaging a career-low 3.2 yards per carry this season. The team said Forsett requested his release. "Baltimore will always have a special place in my heart," Forsett said via Twitter. "Love y'all and thank u for the amazing support over the years." Forsett, 30, started the first three games of the season but was inactive in Week 4.
