 Draft Scout Justin Forsett News
08/12/15 - RB Justin Forsett has carried his strong performance last season into training camp. Forsett reported in supreme physical shape and has impressed coaches with his burst and knowledge of the playbook. There is no question he will enter the season as the starting running back with Lorenzo Taliaferro, Javorius Allen and Fitzgerald Toussaint fighting for the backup spot. Forsett had a breakout season in 2014, earning career highs in carries (235), rushing yards (1,266) and touchdowns (8). He also caught 44 passes for 263 yards and made the Pro Bowl. Forsett was also an effective blocker -- a skill not lost on Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. His performance earned him a three-year $9 million deal with the team. "Justin Forsett is the starter," Harbaugh said. "He competes with himself and everybody else to be the best he can be. And the (other) guys have done a great job."
03/12/15 - The Baltimore Ravens reached agreement with running back Justin Forsett on a three-year deal reportedly worth $9 million on Thursday (March 12). The team announced the length of the deal, and financial terms were relayed via ESPN, NFL Network and the Baltimore Sun. Forsett emerged as the Raven's top rusher last season, gaining 1,266 yards and leading NFL running backs with a 5.4-yard average per carry. It was the best season of Forsett's seven-year career, which began when he was drafted in the seventh round by the Seattle Seahawks in 2008. Forsett took over for the Ravens after the team released Ray Rice in the wake of the former starter's domestic-violence case. "Sometimes you have fortunate signings in this business, and Justin was one of those," general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "We were fortunate because he became such a vital part of our on-field success and quickly became a steadying influence in the locker room at an uneasy time for us. He gave us more than we anticipated. From what we expected, he gave us unprecedented production. "He fits well into what we do on offense, and he handles all parts of the job effectively, including blocking and receiving," Newsome added. "I mentioned this a few weeks ago when we met with the media: Justin is a tremendous leader by example and willing to step up as both a leader and mentor. He is truly a success story, and we're happy he'll continue that with us. He earned his new contract."
03/08/15 - RB Justin Forsett, unrestricted FA update, is a diminutive runner coming off a career breakthrough season. The Ravens have informed him they want him back and he wants to re-sign. Can't sign with the team until March 10.
01/05/15 - RB Justin Forsett lost a fumble for the first time this season. The turnover also came at a critical time in the fourth quarter as the Steelers scored two plays later to pull within five points. However, the Ravens managed to overcome the mistake and come away with a victory. Forsett ran for just 36 yards on 26 carries after he finished the regular season with a career-high 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns this season. "It says a lot about my teammates," Forsett said about the team recovering from the fumble. "A resilient bunch, who kept fighting we have been through a lot this year, that little bit of adversity was nothing we were about to come back and seize the moment."
01/04/15 - RB Justin Forsett was limited to 36 yards on 16 carries and also lost a fumble for the first time all season. He ran for 1,266 yards in the regular season.
