Draft Scout James Jones News
07/31/15 - WR James Jones was signed by the Giants Friday (July 31). Jones, 31, led the Oakland Raiders with a career-best 73 receptions last season, but the Raiders released him in May after signing former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree and drafting Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper with the fourth overall pick.
Jones had signed a three-year, $10 million deal with the Raiders last year after seven years with the Green Bay Packers. Jones led the NFL with 14 touchdown receptions in 2012 and has averaged 48 catches, 620 yards and five scores per year.
Jones will be reunited with former Packers assistant Ben McAdoo, who is in his second year as the Giants' offensive coordinator.
"I remember the great year he had, and then last year he caught a number of balls, he led the Oakland team," coach Tom Coughlin said. "He's a veteran receiver, outstanding hands, been in this system, knows the system well, should fit in well, and should compete."
05/06/15 - WR James Jones had his contract terminated by the Raiders Tuesday (May 5).
12/15/14 - WR James Jones had eight catches for 57 yards and his fifth touchdown of the season on a 1-yard pass from Derek Carr.
11/21/14 - WR James Jones has a team-leading 54 receptions, 10 behind his career high of 64 with Green Bay in 2012.
09/14/14 - WR James Jones caught nine passes for 112 yards and a touchdown Sunday, though he fumbled twice on the same play, turning the ball over the second time. In two games, the former Packer has 12 catches for 146 yards and two scores. He caught 37 touchdown passes in seven seasons at Green Bay, including 14 in 2012.
