Draft Scout Steve Smith News
12/22/14 - WR Steve Smith had five catches for 49 yards but had a couple of critical drops for the second straight game. He credited opposing defense for making the necessary adjustments to dhuw down the Ravens. "We respect and understand and anticipate all the negative feedback and all the fat, lazy, sorry couch quarterbacks that are going to come out," Smith said. "We respect that and understand that and we're not going to pay attention to it."
12/15/14 - WR Steve Smith has surpassed 900 receptions, becoming the 18th player in league history to reach that milestone. Smith has 902 receptions for 13,123 yards. He passed Hall of Famer Steve Largent for 15th on the all-time receiving list. "Every week there's always something you need to improve on, and hey, those guys get paid, too," Smith said. "Nobody's going to come in here and lay down. You don't expect that from anybody."
12/14/14 - WR Steve Smith caught five passes for 37 yards and now has 900 receptions for his career. He is the 18th player in league history to reach that milestone. Smith missed practice with an illness earlier in the week and was listed as probable for the game. "I caught everything Joe threw my way," he said, referring to quarterback Joe Flacco. "My stamina was fine."
12/08/14 - WR Steve Smith bounced back from a dismal performance in Week 13 against the Chargers, when he had just one catch for two yards. Smith overcame an early drop to finish with seven catches for 70 yards and a touchdown against Miami. Smith also was solid with his blocking -- a role he embraces. "They enjoy the way I play," Smith said. "They ask me to come down and block the safety and I put the safety on (his) back. They ask me to block a linebacker, I'll put a linebacker on his back. They ask me to block and run, and I do that. They appreciate it. They know when they need a big block or a big play, they come to me. I enjoy that."
12/07/14 - WR Steve Smith dropped a would-be TD pass in the second quarter but recovered after that miscue. He finished with seven catches for 70 yards -- both game highs -- and one touchdown.
