Draft Scout Steve Smith News
10/14/14 - WR Steve Smith has proven to be the Ravens' most vital offseason pickup. Smith was targeted six times and caught five passes for 110 yards with a 56-yard touchdown. He has more than 100 receiving yards in four of the first six games. "They had been doing some very creative things, coach just told us to stay with it and keep doing our jobs and that's what I tried to do," Smith said.
10/08/14 - WR Steve Smith has 98 career receptions against the Buccaneers in 22 games for 1,404 yards and six touchdowns.
10/05/14 - WR Steve Smith continued to shine. A week after catching two touchdown passes against the Carolina Panthers, Smith caught five passes for 34 yards, including a long pass play of 17 yards. After last week's game in which he caught seven passes for 139 yards against his former team, Smith caught the close attention of Colts defenders. Through five games, the 35-year-old has caught 30 passes for 463 yards.
10/02/14 - WR Steve Smith has 11 catches for 189 yards and one touchdown in three games against the Colts.
09/29/14 - WR Steve Smith, at age 35, became the oldest player in NFL history with 400 receiving yards in his first four games of the season.
"The oldest player in the history of the National Football League to have over 400 yards in his first four games," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "So, I guess we'll have a game ball for that, but that was pretty awesome. He stepped up. Our team kind of made a little bit of a statement during the week that they were going to send Steve in and out of this game a winner."
Two 34-year-olds accomplished that feat: Marvin Harrison (413) for the Colts in 2006 and Frank Lewis (409) of the Bills in 1981. Smith also has 46 career games where he has caught passes for 100 or more yards.
