 Draft Scout *Michael Vick News
11/25/14 - QB Michael Vick completed just 7-of-19 passes for 76 yards before he was removed in the third quarter. Vick suffered a minor calf injury but was mainly taken out for ineffectiveness, as he also threw his first interception as a starter this year. He didn't get much help from his line, getting sacked five times. Vick is hopeful he'll remain the starter. "I love playing the game," he said.
11/09/14 - QB Michael Vick made NFL history Sunday, when he became the first quarterback to reach 6,000 career rushing yards by rushing eight times for 39 yards in the Jets' 20-13 win over the Steelers. Vick surpassed the 6,000-yard mark on an 18-yard scramble in the third quarter. It was one of two 18-yard runs for Vick, who was 10-of-18 passing for 132 yards and two touchdowns in his first win as a starting quarterback since Oct. 6, 2013.
11/02/14 - QB Michael Vick made his first start with the Jets and turned in a nice performance, hitting 75 percent of his passes (21 of 28) with a touchdown pass and no interceptions. He also ran four times for 18 yards as he was able to escape pass-rush pressure from the Chiefs. Vick left the game in the fourth quarter to be evaluated for a head injury but missed only one drive before returning for the final four minutes of the game.
10/27/14 - QB Michael Vick is the Jets' new starting quarterback. Vick relieved Geno Smith on Sunday after Smith threw interceptions on three straight series in the first quarter against the Bills. Vick made plenty of mistakes himself - he threw an interception, lost two fumbles and had another interception overturned on review - but he directed four scoring drives in a 43-23 loss. Coach Rex Ryan's refusal late Sunday afternoon to name a starter for this week's game against Kansas City spelled doom for Smith. Ryan benched Smith at halftime of a 31-0 loss to San Diego on Oct. 5 but declared Smith was still the starter immediately after that game. "I think when Mike came into the game, I thought it did give us a spark," Ryan said "I felt the energy on the sideline, and I think given an opportunity that he really hasn't been given - which is to really run with the first team all week - that we will see how it plays out."
10/26/14 - QB Michael Vick may have earned the Jets' starting quarterback job for the rest of the season by accounting for 222 yards of total offense and directing the Jets to four scores in relief of QB Geno Smith during a 43-23 loss to the Bills on Sunday. Vick, who came on for Smith after Smith threw interceptions on three straight first quarter series, was 18-of-36 for 153 yards passing and rushed eight times for a team-high 69 yards. He committed three turnovers (one interception and two fumbles). Afterward, head coach Rex Ryan said he didn't know who would start next week's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
