Post-Draft Outlook:
BEST PICK: The enormous size of WR Ramses Barden, whose hands measure 10 3/4 inches, might turn out to be the team's most courageous selection. A clip of his game highlights on YouTube showed eight distinct "fade" patterns which he turned into touchdowns, and with long arms to go with his height and big hands, he may well turn into the "new Plaxico" in red zone pass plays. A closer look at the Giants' picks: Round 3/85 -- Ramses Barden, WR, 6-6, 229, Cal-Poly...Tall and talented, with giant hands and 37-inch arms, Barden is considered the eventual replacement for the departed Plaxico Burress. He should be used immediately in red zone situations and might turn into one of Eli Manning's favorites when he wants to throw the fade pattern. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Ramses Barden News
09/01/10 - WR Ramses Barden returned to work two weeks after being diagnosed with a fractured transverse process. Barden has been competing with Mario Manningham for the third receiver spot in a battle that, after three preseason games, was still too close to call.
08/23/10 - WR Ramses Barden, who was unable to practice last week and who missed the Giants preseason game against Pittsburgh, has a stress fracture of a transverse process in his back, the team announced. Barden will not practice this week nor will he be available for the team's third preseason game this Saturday, at Baltimore. He has been listed by the team as being week to week.
08/22/10 - WR Ramses Barden (lower back) admitted that he probably should have sat out the Giants' preseason opener against the Jets as his back was bothering him then. Barden, who missed practice this past week, said the soreness has been affecting his route running and receiving. Barden, who missed the game against Pittsburgh, said his condition wasn't chronic and he was hoping to be able to return to practice this week.
08/17/10 - WR Ramses Barden, who started in place of Steve Smith, experienced lower back discomfort following the Giants' win over the Jets; however it doesn't appear to be serious.
06/03/10 - WR Ramses Barden, entering his second season, credited teammate Steve Smith for helping him improve his game enough to start drawing more attention from the coaches. "Steve is one of the hardest working receivers in the business," the 6-6, 227-pound Barden said. "He loves this game and is a good guy to follow around. We'll often get extra ball drills in, extra footwork, talk about different schemes and strategies just because as young as he is, he has a lot of experience and he's started to have some success. He's a guy I can learn from because he knows the entire offense." What's one piece of advice from Smith that has made a noticeable difference? "I told him to take extra time on the Jugs machine to get the hand-eye coordination down and catch the ball better," Smith said. "He's doing a fantastic job of that."
