Post-Draft Outlook:
A closer look at the 49ers' picks: Round 3/91 -- Navorro Bowman, ILB, 6-0, 242, Penn State: The 49ers expect Bowman to be a backup at inside linebacker. He appears best-suited to be a backup to Patrick Willis in the middle. He should be a core special-teams player. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout *Navorro Bowman News
04/29/15 - LB NaVorro Bowman practiced with the 49ers on Wednesday -- his first action with the team since he suffered a gruesome knee injury in the NFC Championship Game in January 2014. "I'm out there," Bowman said. "I'm putting my jersey on just like everyone else and doing as much as I can do and that my knee allows me to do. "I'm passing all the tests. My knee is still stable and holding up the way they expected. Just continue to work through the little bit of aches that I have, but it's going to be there for at least another year and I just have to figure out how to deal with it." Bowman did not practice or play last season as he rehabilitated the left knee that incurred tears of the ACL and MCL in the 49ers' loss to the Seattle Seahawks leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII.
12/14/14 - LB NaVorro Bowman (knee) was placed on reserve/injured by the 49ers Saturday (Dec. 13).
12/10/14 - ILB NaVorro Bowman did not practice Wednesday and has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Seattle. 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that Bowman, who was added to the 53-man active roster Tuesday, has a chance to play in one or both of the team's final two games against San Diego and Arizona. The 49ers hope to have him back at practice next week.
12/09/14 - LB NaVorro Bowman was activated from reserve/physically unable to perform by the 49ers Tuesday (Dec. 9). Bowman had to be put on the 53-man active roster no later than Tuesday in order to be eligible to play this season. The two-time Pro Bowler tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee during last season's NFC Championship Game against the Seattle Seahawks. Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery on Feb. 4. Bowman has not returned to practice with the team, but that might happen this week. He's not expected to make his season debut Sunday at Seattle. In four seasons with the 49ers, Bowman has played in all 64 games and started every game the past three years. Last season before the injury, Bowman had career highs in tackles (192), sacks (5.0), forced fumbles (four) and interceptions (two). He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2012 and 2013 and selected as first-team All-Pro in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
12/08/14 - The 49ers' braintrust huddled late Monday in an effort to make an important decision regarding the immediate future of standout inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman. The club has until Tuesday afternoon to either place Bowman on the 53-man active roster or declare him out for the season. The 49ers had hoped to use some on-field evaluation in their decision-making process when they opened a 21-day window on Bowman on Nov. 18. But while he has been able to work out with 49ers trainers on the side and in the weight room, Bowman has not been cleared to return to practice during the three-week period that ends Tuesday. "We're going to discuss that this afternoon," Harbaugh said during his noon press conference Monday. "All the medical (staff will) weigh in today and make the decision." Bowman tore both the MCL and ACL in his left knee in the NFC Championship Game last to Seattle last January.
