Draft Scout Delone Carter News
05/31/14 - RB Delone Carter was waived by the Jaguars on May 12.
08/31/13 - RB Delone Carter was waived by the Ravens Friday.
08/26/13 - RB Delone Carter is involved in the personal equivalent of a two-minute drill.
Acquired in a trade from the Indianapolis Colts last week in exchange for wide receiver and kick returner David Reed, Carter doesn't have much time to make his case for a roster spot.
"Exactly, time is of the essence," said Carter, a 2011 Colts fourth-round draft pick from Syracuse. "I'm still going to go in there relaxed and ready to make plays because you can't play this game tight. Seize the opportunity and be confident in your abilities.
To make the team, Carter will need to edge out Anthony Allen and Bobby Rainey for the third running back spot. And the Ravens would have to opt to keep a third running back in addition to Pro Bowl runner Ray Rice and backup Bernard Pierce as well as starting fullback Vonta Leach and rookie Kyle Juszczyk.
"It's a hurried evaluation, that's what it is," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "We're going to have to see if we see enough. That's what it really boils down to. First impressions are positive, and we'll just see where it goes this week."
08/21/13 - The Baltimore Ravens traded wide receiver David Reed to the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday in exchange for running back Delone Carter.
Carter played in 26 games over two seasons for the Colts, rushing for 499 yards and five touchdowns on 133 carries. As a rookie, he ran for 377 yards on 101 rushes.
"This trade gives us a chance to improve in key areas moving forward," Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said. "David is a very competitive football player and we welcome his style of play and energy."
Reed was with the Ravens for three years and totaled five catches for 66 yards and also returned kickoffs, averaging 29.5 yards, in 29 games, and played on special teams.
01/08/13 - RB Delone Carter (ankle) was a pregame inactive for the Ravens game. Carter has battled a high ankle sprain for the past several weeks. He saw some work in practice in the week prior to the Baltimore game but was not ready to go against the Ravens.
