 Draft Scout Barry Church News
09/10/13 - S Barry Church had a spectacular return to the field after missing most of last season with a torn Achilles. Church had eight tackles, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble, returning it 27 yards for a touchdown, in the Cowboys' season-opening, 36-31 victory over the Giants. He was named the Cowboys player of the game and given a pair of boxing gloves, representing the team motto to "keep fighting." "It felt great just to get back out there and produce the way I produced," Church said. "It felt great to be out there with my teammates and doing what we do best and creating turnovers. It felt great." Church started for only the fifth time in his career. He won the strong safety job in camp last year and even had a fumble recovery against the Giants in the 2012 opener. But he tore his Achilles' tendon in Week 3 against Tampa Bay and went on injured reserve.
09/26/12 - S Barry Church (Achilles) was officially placed on reserve/injured Wednesday and is out for the season.
09/23/12 - SS Barry Church suffered a torn Achilles and has been sidelined for the season. Church, a former undrafted free agent, is in the final year of his contract and was hoping for a big year to earn a contract extension.
09/17/12 - S Barry Church left the Seahawks game with a thigh contusion. He says he will play against Tampa Bay next Sunday.
09/03/12 - S Barry Church won the starting free safety job in training camp. Now he gets the chance to show the world how good he can be in the season opener against the Giants. He said words can't even describe his excitement. Said Church: "I'm really looking forward to this opportunity to show people what I can do and look forward to what our defense has got because we're looking good in practice."
